HARDCORE HOLLY VS. X-PAC

 

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match. Hardcore Holly is introduced first, he beat Al Snow (here) on 30^th May episode of Heat to qualify for the tournament, his opponent X-Pac qualified the same night beating Big Bossman. (here)

 

HARDCORE HOLLY VS. X-PAC (King of the Ring quarterfinal)

  They lock up at the bell, Hardcore Holly gets a headlock but he’s sent off the ropes, knocking X-Pac down with a shoulder tackle. X-Pac takes his time getting to his feet, he goes to lock up but Holly grabs control of the arm and hits X-Pac with right hands. Hardcore Holly is sent off the ropes from another headlock and he knocks X-Pac down again. X-Pac drops back to the ground as Holly runs the ropes, then leapfrogs him before getting a hip toss. Hardcore Holly is sent into the corner but he sidesteps X-Pac, sending him into the turnbuckles and running through X-Pac with a lariat. Holly locks in a standing front facelock, but X-Pac fights out with right hands and tries to send Hardcore Holly into the corner but the irish whip is reversed. X-Pac lands on the middle turnbuckle, hits a crossbody and gets a 2 count. Hardcore Holly ducks a right hand and hits a powerbomb, then keeps focus on the neck with clubbing blows before choking X-Pac across the middle rope and utilising the 5-count.

 

  The referee tries to have a word but Holly doesn’t really care, X-Pac has a chance to fight back to his feet. Hardcore Holly sends him into the ropes but X-Pac ducks the right hand and hits a back suplex. X-Pac is able to block Hardcore Holly’s right hands and connect with his own, Holly sends him into the ropes but he ducks a right hand and knocks Holly down with a kick. X-Pac takes Holly to the corner and hits a combination of roundhouse kicks and a spinning side kick to Holly, who slumps in the corner. X-Pac hits the Bronco Buster and Hardcore Holly rolls out to the floor. He pushes The Fink out of the way and returns to the ring with a chair. Hardcore Holly plants X-Pac’s cranium with the chair to get himself disqualified.

 

WINNER: X-PAC

 

This was the beginning of a decent match, but they didn’t bother getting out of first gear before going to the finish. [ ½* ] 1/10.

 

  After the match Hardcore Holly hits a neckbreaker and stomps on X-Pac’s neck until Road Dogg makes the save.
