Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on this match, which
I never thought I’d say for a Sandman match. Speaking of, he makes his way through
the crowd, but it’s just not the same without Enter Sandman and a crowd
sing-along. He walks behind all three commentary desks on the barricade as JR
says this feud has been building over recent weeks. Carlito makes his way out,
taking a bite of his apple. Jim Ross says he’s one of 19 men that have won both
the US and Intercontinental titles, I think that number’s probably doubled since
then. Carlito spits the apple at Sandman before running away.
CARLITO VS. SANDMAN

The bell rings and Carlito locks up with a pissed off Sandman, which can’t be the smartest move of the night, they come to a stalemate and staredown whilst we get out of the shock of seeing Sandman lock up. They stare towards the Singapore canes and Carlito makes a bee-line.
Sandman cuts him off and knocks him back with a left hand, then another. Carlito is sent into the turnbuckle as JR says Sandman also has issues with William Regal, and now I want to see the match. Sandman takes control of Carlito’s arm and puts him in a hammerlock on the mat. Carlito drags himself to the ropes and breaks the hold, Sandman tries to get to the Singapore cane but Carlito cuts him off with left hands as we have a rare battle of southpaws. Sandman meets the turnbuckle, shoulder block from Carlito and he follows with another left hand then sends Sandman across the ring. Sandman holds on to the top rope and Carlito runs into a backdrop, sending him over to the floor. Sandman climbs to the top rope, trying to get to the cane but Carlito brings him down to the mat! That looked rough, but Carlito shakes it off and gets back in the ring but gets sent into the corner.
Carlito fights to his feet and sends Sandman into the ropes, then knocks him down with a dropkick. Carlito tries to go for the cane, but Sandman grabs the ankle and trips him. Carlito unloads right hands and we see a replay of the dropkick as JR puts it over. Carlito suplexes Sandman and gets some more shots in before going for the cane, Sandman brings him back to the ring but eats some more shots. Carlito gets to the middle rope, Sandman grabs his trunks and Carlito grips the pole like a sloth. After a struggle Sandman slams Carlito down to the mat. Sandman brings him to his feet but the irish whip is reversed sending Sandman into the corner. Carlito follows with a clothesline and a dropkick to the midsection in the corner. Sandman stops him going for the cane again, they exchange a few shots and Sandman reverses an irish whip, Carlito springboards from the middle rope but eats shit as Sandman ducks the back elbow.
The crowd wakes up as Sandman climbs to the Singapore cane and removes it from the pole. He looks to tweak his knee as he jumps down to the mat, Carlito ducks as Sandman swings with the cane and hits the Backstabber, covering for the win.
WINNER: CARLITO
This was a nothing match, neither guy seemed to care at this point and just went through the motions. The crowd followed suit, finally getting loud as Sandman grabbed the Singapore cane and having the wind knocked out of them with the quick finish. [*] 1.5/10.
After the match, Carlito
gets the hell out of there before Sandman can cane him, which was
disappointing.
