Before the match, we get a video package showing Raven offering an alliance with Jeff. Jeff refused it because they’ve always kept out of each others’ business and it should stay that way. This lead to Raven attacking Jeff during the latter’s interview with Shane Douglas. He also through Jeff Hardy through a table so this is a tables match inside the cage. Raven wears a straightjacket on his way to the ring and sits in the corner waiting on Jeff. Jeff Hardy’s music just continues from Raven’s seamlessly and he carries 2 chairs to the ring.
RAVEN VS. JEFF
HARDY
TNA Lockdown
2005 (24th April 2005
Jeff Hardy throws a chair at Raven before swinging the second one, hitting the wall of the cage. Raven avoids another chair shot but Hardy hits the leg.
Jeff Hardy stands the chair up and uses it for a one-man Poetry in Motion in the corner. Raven avoids the second attempt and Jeff hits the steel. Raven sends Hardy into the cage wall a couple of times before awkwardly swinging Jeff’s head into the chickenwire. He does follow it up with a running boot to somewhat make up for it. Raven looks awkward working around the tables bunched in a corner. Raven sets up the chair and sends Jeff into it with a drop toehold before moving one of the tables. Raven hits the Raven Effect and leans Jeff against the table. Raven hits the ropes and Jeff Hardy moves out of the way so Raven crashes through the table. Jeff Hardy hits Raven across the back with the chair and presses the top of it into Raven’s throat. Jeff hits a suplex and hits a chair-assisted leg drop before sending Raven into the cage wall. Jeff mounts for right hands and sends Raven into the cage in the corner. Raven’s forehead is scraped across the cage and Tenay and West say at some point Raven started bleeding.
Raven hits a suplex, leaving them both on the mat. Jeff is the first to his feet, he climbs to the top rope but Raven is there to meet him with right hands. Raven tries to hit a front Russian leg sweep from the top rope but they both just fall down to the mat. We get one of the stupid cuts as Don West gets ignored asking for a replay. Three of the New York Metz are in attendance, but we cut back to the ring just in time to see the Twist of Fate from Hardy. Jeff Hardy sets up a table, Raven uses it to get to his feet but a shot to the back from a steel chair sets him up. Jeff Hardy dives from the top of the cage with a Swanton Bomb but he crashes through the table! The fans chant “Holy Shit” and I’m guessing they haven’t found New Jack yet. Not surprisingly, Raven is the first to his feet. He sends the top of the chair into Jeff’s ribs, Raven stands the chair up and sends Jeff Hardy’s face into it before climbing to the top rope.
Jeff Hardy appears from nowhere (Tenay says he jumped from the chair into Raven) and knocks Raven down. Raven climbs to his knees in the corner, but Jeff Hardy is already on his feet. Jeff sends Raven’s face into the cage before hitting a running dropkick. Raven cuts off Jeff’s momentum with a low blow and drives some of the broken table into Jeff’s face. Raven stands the chair up but Jeff reverses the irish whip and sends Raven into the chair with a drop toe hold. We keep getting crowd shots of people not wanting to watch the carnage and the acting is laughable. Jeff Hardy climbs to the top of the cage but Raven gets to the door and has it opened. Jeff Hardy stands on the cage door for some reason before predictably getting crotched. Jeff Hardy swings the door into Raven’s head, and he dives from the top of the cage into Raven’s boot. Jeff Hardy takes a breather as Raven sets up 2 tables next to each other. Raven stomps on Jeff before going back and stacking two more tables on top of the first pair.
Raven drags Jeff to the corner and up to the top ropes. Hardy starts
fighting back with elbows and climbs a bit further, Raven tries for a back superplex
but Jeff knocks him down onto the stack of tables. Jeff Hardy hits the Swanton
Bomb through the tables for the win.
WINNER: JEFF HARDY
I really wanted to like this match because it’s two guys that
I really like, but I just couldn’t. They were restricted with the tables being in
the ring from the start so Jeff Hardy was limited to highspots until the big
finish. The match just seemed to have no flow, but the Impact Zombies liked it,
well those that actually watched. [*½] 2.5/10
