LADIES IN PINK VS. TRISH STRATUS & ASHLEY MASSARO

 The Ladies in Pink make their way out with Candice Michelle and Torrie’s dog, which JR calls a rat. Ashley Massaro enters the ring with Trish, who is the current WWE Women’s Champion, Ashley recently won the Diva’s Search competition so it’s equal parts solidarity and not having people recognise her music yet. Torrie Wilson slaps and pushes the champion whilst hiding behind Victoria.

LADIES IN PINK VS. TRISH STRATUS & ASHLEY MASSARO

WWE Unforgiven 2005 (18^th September 2005)

  Torrie looks like she’s going to start the match with Trish but immediately tags out at the bell. Victoria locks up with Trish and takes her down in a waistlock, putting her in a front facelock before flipping over into a Last Chancery before the reverse motion.

  That was athletic as hell, which must be why King was excited at the move too. Trish Stratus gets to her feet and they trade wristlocks. Trish catches Victoria with a forearm but is sent into the corner, she stops the momentum and Victoria runs into a headscissors in the corner. Trish hits a rough-looking Lou Thesz press, punching away until the referee forces a separation. Torrie Wilson avoids a shot from Trish and Victoria is backed to the babyface corner with chops and right hands, Ashley Massaro licks Trish’s hand for the final chop before making the tag. She connects with kicks to the midsection but the irish whip is reversed, Ashley avoids the charge and rolls out of the corner before connecting with a clothesline. Ashley Massaro with a lot of wasted motion before the dropkick, she covers but Torrie pulls her from the pin and sends her outside. That was a hard landing for the newcomer. Candice Michelle doesn’t make it easier for her, stomping away whilst the referee’s attention is elsewhere. Candice chokes Ashley with her robe until Trish runs interference, Victoria brings it back to the ring hitting a slingshot somersault legdrop and putting Ashley in a headscissors on the mat. Victoria is in the ropes so the referee makes her break the hold, she goes to the chinlock and Ashley gets to her feet. Ashley Massaro tries to break free with elbows but is sent to the mat, and Victoria makes the tag. Torrie Wilson stomps Ashley and sends her face into the mat before tagging back out. Victoria stops Ashley making the tag, Ashley tries to fight back from her knees but a knee to the face stops that. Victoria brings Ashley back from the corner, again stopping the tag and goes back to the front facelock. Ashley gets to her feet and walks towards her partner in the hold and Torrie draws the referee’s attention so he misses the tag. The fans boo the referee for being an idiot and Victoria hits a suplex on Ashley before heading to the top rope. Ashley cuts her off before making the tag, Trish brings Victoria down to the mat with the handstand hurricanrana. Trish backs Victoria into the ropes with forearms but the irish whip is reversed, Torrie grabs Trish by the hair as she gets close but is knocked from the apron for her efforts. Victoria catches Trish with a kick to the midsection but the TKO is countered into a headscissors. Trish avoids a clothesline with the Matrix move and knocks both her opponents down with a double clothesline. They also get one each to themselves and Torrie exits the ring. Victoria is caught in a spinebuster, Candice Michelle is on the apron so the referee can’t count the pin. Trish brings her into the ring by the hair but Candice bails before any damage can be done. Ashley makes up for it slamming Candice’s head into the ring apron.

  Torrie Wilson is back in the ring to save her partner from the Stratusfaction. Trish puts Torrie in a headscissors whilst Victoria is still in the headlock and takes them both down, the Chick Kick connects and that’s enough for the win.

WINNERS: TRISH STRATUS & ASHLEY MASSARO

This match was never going to be an all-time classic, but it worked well for what it is. Trish Stratus and Victoria were the workers, Ashley took most of the heat but got a few moments to shine and Torrie… Made up the numbers. They got enough time for the match and didn’t stick around for long enough for too many mistakes, with Candice making herself known at ringside enough, but not so much it was a distraction from the match. [*½] 2.75/10

After the match, Ric Flair is taking some ladies back to his limo after winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship earlier tonight. He has a bottle of pills and counts the ladies so he can take the right amount, plus one for luck.
