3 MINUTE WARNING VS. BILLY & CHUCK

 This is 2 weeks after the Billy & Chuck “wedding” that pissed off GLAAD. The minister was revealed as Eric Bischoff and 3 Minute Warning attacked the Smackdown team and even gave Stephanie a Samoan drop, respect to her for taking that from a 300 pounder. The next broadcast of Raw, Stephanie McMahon disguised herself as one of the protesters for women’s rights and kicked Bischoff right in the balls to get some heat back. Billy & Chuck also hit a Doomsday Device on Bischoff and bested 3MW on their own show. All that leads to this interpromotional match. The respective General Managers are in the corner for their brands teams, and if Billy & Chuck lose then Stephanie McMahon must perform “Hot Lesbian Action” in the ring, whereas if 3 Minute Warning lose then Eric Bischoff must kiss Stephanie’s ass in the ring. People still wonder why wrestling is known as low-brow entertainment.

Rosey and Jamal make their way out with Rico, who turned on Billy & Chuck to join them. As Billy and Chuck make their way out Cole says the match is about pride without making a joke about it, which is actually impressive for WWE standards.

3 MINUTE WARNING VS. BILLY & CHUCK

WWE Unforgiven 2002 (22^nd September 2002)

  Billy & Chuck hit the ring, instantly taking it to the bigger guys with right hands. It doesn’t last long as Rosey takes Chuck to the corner, and Billy clotheslines Jamal over to the floor leaving their teammates to start the match officially.

  Chuck is sent off the ropes but lands on his feet from the press attempt, he grabs a waistlock but Rosey runs towards the ropes so Rico can kick Chuck in the head. Rosey hits a back suplex and clubs at Chuck from above before sending him into the corner for some choking, Jamal gets some cheap shots before tagging in and Billy stupidly has the referee distracted as Rosey continues the choke from the apron. Chuck Palumbo gets his boot up on the charge but is cut off with a kick to the midsection, then another to the head, sending some teeth into the bleachers. Jamal covers but only gets 2 early. Rosey gets the tag and takes a free shot as Jamal holds Chuck in place before stomping him in the corner. Chuck tries to fight back from his knees but a rake to the face puts a stop to that and a slam gets Rosey gets another 2 count. He pulls at Chuck’s face, barely disguising it as a chinlock before Chuck tries to get back into the match with right hands. Rosey headbutts Chuck down before making the tag. 3 Minute Warning hit a double headbutt and Jamal hits an elbow drop for a 2 count. Billy is knocked from the apron and the referee is drawn to Smackdown’s corner as 3 Minute Warning stomps Chuck into the mat. Rosey is back in and promises the referee they tagged, so he lets it slide. I wouldn’t argue either, to be fair.

  Rosey teases letting Chuck tag from the middle of the ring, the closest he’s been to his partner all match, then takes a shot at Chuck’s ribs before planting him with a scoop slam. A back elbow knocks Billy from the apron but the pause gives Chuck a chance to roll out of the way of a middle rope moonsault. The referee starts counting them down, but they get to their respective corners. Billy Gunn gets the best of it, taking out both members of 3 Minute Warning and that no-good son of a bitch Rico. A dropkick knocks Rosey on his ass, and Jamal does a 360 sell from the clothesline. Billy Gunn forgets about the Samoan concrete head and he noggin-knocker does nothing. 3 Minute Warning send Billy loopy with a double headbutt. Jamal goes to the top rope, but Chuck brings him down to the mat. Rosey is too big for the Million Dollar Dream and he lifts Billy in a full nelson and slams him face-first on the mat. Chuck hits a superkick on Rosey but turns around into a receipt from Jamal, who is left in the ring with Billy. Billy Gunn gets to his feet in the corner and counters a Samoan drop into a Fameasser. Rosey grabs the referee’s ankle from the floor as Rico tries to interfere, but is clotheslined down and sent over the top to the floor.

  Rosey enters the ring and hits Billy from behind, sending him into a Samoan drop from Jamal. Jamal covers as Chuck tries to make the save, but he’s too late according to the referee. Damn, that looked awkward.

WINNERS: 3 MINUTE WARNING

I wish they had done more with 3 Minute Warning as a team, they had the Samoan heritage and have been far more than passable in the few matches I’ve seen them. The finish was awkward and the match was quite slow to start with Chuck taking most of the heat, but it was a dominant debut for the team. Not much more to say about the match except Michael Cole making the ridiculous stipulations sound like real stakes in the match was unintentionally funny. [*¾] 3/10

After the match, Eric Bischoff is backstage with Jonathan Coachman, delighted with the result. They are also stood with the “lesbians” who all want to be the one to partake in the HLA, which Bischoff encourages them to chant. We switch announce teams now and Jerry Lawler is also chanting, with Jim Ross trying to settle him down.
