IRWIN R. SCHYSTER VS. GREG VALENTINE

Irwin R Schyster is on the apron as Howard Finkel introduces him. He cuts a heel promo telling people to stop crying and pay their taxes. Greg Valentine jogs to the ring .
Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Roddy Piper are on commentary for this match.

IRWIN R. SCHYSTER VS. GREG VALENTINE

WWF SummerSlam 1991 (26th August 1991)


  They circle and lock up, they trade attempts at a wristlock before Schyster scrambles to the ropes.
  Greg Valentine gets a headlock and he’s sent into the ropes, IRS is knocked down with a shoulder tackle as Monsoon calls Valentine “methodical”. Back then that could mean a glacial pace, so adjust your expectations accordingly. IRS hesitates before going to lock up with Valentine again, Greg Valentine puts IRS into a headlock and is sent off the ropes. Schyster drops down and gets a running start, but Valentine knocks him down again. Greg Valentine puts Schyster in another headlock, gets sent off the ropes and IRS drops down. Valentine blocks a hip toss and sends Schyster down with one of his own so IRS goes to the floor for a breather. Gorilla Monsoon says there’s a rumour that Undertaker and Jake Roberts are in the building as IRS gets something going back in the ring.
  Irwin R. Schyster knees Valentine in the midsection and connects with right hands. Greg Valentine is sent off the ropes, IRS ducks early and Valentine rolls through with a sunset flip for 2. Valentine slams IRS as they get to their feet, IRS goes for another break on the floor but this time he’s followed and sent back in the ring. IRS meets Valentine with boots and locks in an abdominal stretch, using the top rope for leverage as Danny Davis checks on Valentine. Davis finally catches the cheating and Valentine hip tosses IRS. Valentine misses a knee drop as IRS gets to his feet and he knocks Valentine down with a clothesline. IRS follows with an elbow drop and covers but Valentine kicks out at 2.
  Irwin R Schyster puts Valentine in a chinlock, Valentine fights to his feet but is dropped with a rib breaker. IRS takes his time getting to the top rope and it costs him, Valentine brings him down to the mat and IRS has to beg off to the corner. Greg Valentine isn’t paid by the hour so he connects with right hands and chops IRS in the corner. Schyster reverses an irish whip but the running knee hits the turnbuckle which sets of an alarm for The Hammer. Greg Valentine kicks at Schyster’s hamstring until he goes down and drops a knee to IRS’s left leg. Valentine hits an elbow drop and goes to the Figure Four. Irwin R Schyster fights to the bottom rope. Greg Valentine pulls Schyster away from the ropes, he signals for another Figure Four but attempts an elbow drop and misses. Valentine ducks a right hand and connects with a shin breaker, he signals for the Figure Four but hits a headbutt to the midsection instead.
  Greg Valentine goes for the Figure Four Leglock but IRS rolls him up in a small package, grabbing Valentine’s hair for leverage.

WINNER: IRWIN R. SCHYSTER

This was another pretty basic match, the fans were firmly behind Greg Valentine and he got most of the match, The Figure Four was protected nicely but they didn’t get out of second gear before the sudden finish. [**] 4.75/10
