VISCERA VS. MARK HENRY

Good ol’ JR advertises phonefree.com which is undoubtedly a sign of the times here. We then see to quote JR “Viscera splashing 500lbs on a pregnant 77-year old woman” that woman, of course, being Mae Young. Mark Henry and Viscera brawled backstage earlier tonight on Heat, next to an ambulance. “Sexual Chocolate” Mark Henry (gotta love Attitude Era nicknames) makes his way out first, as Viscera makes his way out King jokes that one of Mae’s wrinkles may have saved the baby.

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match, Howard Finkel is our ring announcer.

VISCERA VS. MARK HENRY

WWF No Way Out 2000 (27th February 2000)

Mark Henry jumpstarts the match, Viscera strikes back and reverses an irish whip. Viscera knocks Mark Henry down with a shoulder tackle, being one of the few men with a weight advantage over Henry in WWF.

Mark Henry is back on his feet, peppering Viscera with right hands and backing him into the ropes. Mark Henry knocks Viscera down with a shoulder tackle. JR says this won’t be a technical match (no shit there). Mark Henry hits the ropes again and runs into a heel kick. Viscera kicks Henry but misses an ax handle in the match's highlight before pulling on Mark Henry’s face. Henry is brought to his feet by the singlet and Viscera sends him off the ropes into a clothesline. Another clothesline knocks Mark out of the ring. Viscera steps on Mark  Henry on the floor and sends him into the ring steps. That looked painful and the top section almost ended up in the third row. Viscera sets up the bottom half of the steps against the ring post, sending Mark Henry into it. Viscera has to move the base of the steps so he flips them onto Mark Henry before stomping him. Viscera brings it back in the ring (I hoped he’d wait for the count out). Viscera covers and Henry gets his shoulder up at 2. Viscera sends Mark Henry into the corner. He staggers out into a Samoan drop followed by a belly-to-belly suplex from Viscera.

Mae Young runs down to the ring, and Viscera shoves her down. Viscera signals for the Big Splash on Mae but gets intercepted with a Mark Henry shoulder tackle. Mark Henry slams Viscera and covers for the win.

WINNER: MARK HENRY

That was as ugly as advertised, but at least it was short. The wheel kick and Mark Henry being sent into the steps were shining moments within the match, with the accidental comedy of Viscera swinging for air on the ax handle. [*] 1/10
