The build to this match started 26th August edition of Smackdown. Luna got involved in an Evening Gown match between Ivory and Tori. 10 days later on Raw, Luna brawled again with Ivory and Tori. Ivory reacted the following week, attacking Luna as she was in an intergender match with Jeff Jarrett and the match was officially booked. On the go-home Smackdown Luna suggested they make it a Hardcore match and Ivory accepted. What happens if it gets to bell time and they just refuse to give a response, would they hold the match hostage?
Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary
for this match. Harvey Wippleman is our referee, because there’s a strike
storyline going on.

VACHON
(Hardcore match)
– WWF Women’s Championship
WWF Unforgiven 1999 (26th September 1999)
Luna is seen walking backstage, Ivory exits a storage room and hits her from behind with a trash can before laying in right hands to jump-start this match.
Luna Vachon sends her into the wall, then a table, then the wall again. Luna Throws a monitor at Ivory but misses and it bounces off the wall. Luna forces Ivory’s face into an ice bucket of sodas but gets it launched at her as she walks off. Ivory bounces Luna’s head off a sound box and they brawl into an office. Luna holds Ivory under the photocopier and turns it on so JR can make a Saturday Night Live reference on commentary. Luna hits Ivory over the head with a phone and throws it, but that also hits a wall, smashing to pieces. Ivory starts retreating, throwing a chair in Luna’s way, she moves a curtain trying to obstruct Luna’s view and create an obstacle but all it does is put a cameraman down. Luna sends Ivory into doors as they brawl through the hall. Ivory stops herself from being sent into a storage rack and puts Luna in a trash can. She tries to pin but Luna has rolled to her stomach, although I don’t know how much of that was just the trash can.
Harvey Wippleman explains how pins work as King says it should have counted. They kind of brawl as they get to their feet and Luna reverses an irish whip, sending Ivory into a metal shutter door. Ivory is sent onto a pile of boxes, Luna clubs her and climbs to the top of a forklift, hitting a splash for a 2 count. Ivory takes control as they get back to a vertical base, clubbing Luna and dropping a box across her back. Luna hits Ivory with another box and they seem fairly heavy for the size. Ivory is sent into sound boxes but avoids a headshot with a sweeping pan shattering the plastic head as it connects with the soundbox. Luna chokes Ivory with the handle and Wippleman notices her shoulders are down so begins counting. Ivory kicks out at 1 and sends Luna into a production box as King calls Wippleman an idiot. Ivory grabs a broom handle or pole and goes to swing but Tori shows up and takes it off her. Tori swings and misses, getting sent into a production box.
Ivory jabs Luna in the midsection with the pole and hits her across the back, covering to retain the championship.
WINNER: IVORY (STILL WWF Women’s Champion)
To call this a sprint would be diplomatic, but even at 3 minutes, it seemed repetitive. It was a lot of production boxes/soundboxes getting hit with craniums. The forklift splash was pretty cool but should have really been the finish, Tori could have arrived earlier and been taken out just the same. It was pretty fun but hard to really rate [*] 1.25/10
After the match, Lillian Garcia is backstage with The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young. Lillian advises them to stay out of Jeff Jarrett’s business. They don’t get a chance to respond before Ivory is on
the scene. She tells Moolah that what she just saw was a real Women’s Champion
before attacking the former champ. The numbers game gets to Ivory and the
pensioners double-team the champion before Sgt. Slaughter comes to tear
them away. This would set up Moolah challenging Ivory for the title at No Mercy
