IVORY (C) VS. THE FABULOUS MOOLAH

Back to WWF for No Mercy 1999. I've seen this event countless times and it's known as the event where Jeff Jarrett held Mr McMahon up for money. But we're not here for that. It's 2017 and my reviews are completely male-centric. That's not cool and it's going to change as this week I focus on women's matches (along with tag team matches if I have time) beginning with the first No Mercy WWF Women's Championship match.

Michael Cole backstage with Ivory. He asks for her thoughts on facing The Fabulous Moolah tonight. Ivory disrespects Moolah's legacy saying you could fill an Encyclopedia with Moolah's history but Ivory doesn't care. She's the WWF Women's Champion and she'll show why. Although she gets overexcited calling herself the Women's WWF Champion before storming off.

We return to JR and Jerry Lawler on commentary as The Fabulous Moolah enters with Mae Young not far behind. She's challenging for the title at the ripe old age of 72 and is a WWF Hall of Famer. The King says Moolah and Mae can go trick or treating as they are. You know because they're old and scare kids. Anyway, the champion enters getting called a “Spitfire” by JR. (When did he become “good ol' JR, anyway?) that's putting it lightly. She's psycho.

MATCH 2: IVORY © VS. THE FABULOUS MOOLAH
(WWF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP)

Ivory hits Moolah in the back with a dropkick and gets a nearfall. Ivory snapmares Moolah back to the mat and hits a leg drop for a second nearfall, but Moolah rallies back. She snapmares Ivory over twice by her hair and gets a nearfall of her own. Lawler jokes that Ivory's got amazing strength to get Moolah off her because going after geriatrics is always fun. Moolah gets sent into a corner but gets her knee up, somehow Ivory decided a back bump was best here and fell to her back. It looked horrible. Moolah steps onto the bottom rope but Ivory avoids the splat splash attempt. Ivory covers and gets her feet on the bottom rope but Young kicks them off as Lawler makes a joke about this being like watching a match in slow motion due to Moolah and Mae's lack of speed.....Mae Young takes a forearm and tumbles to the floor. Ivory sends Moolah through the ropes. Mae Young is back on the apron surprisingly quickly, but is sent down a second time even quicker. Ivory decides to fall to the floor instead of hitting a tope through the ropes on The Fabulous Moolah. Ouch, rough landing there for the champ.

Ivory gets back to her feet and hits Moolah's head off the announce table. Moolah lifts her leg to avoid going into the security barrier and sends Ivory into the crowd. We get some replays and miss Ivory bouncing Moolah's head off the security wall. Ivory overshoots a cross body from the security wall. Mae Young takes a right hand for getting involved before Ivory makes it look like a tonne of effort to get Moolah in the ring, all to Lawler's delight. Ivory grabs her championship and returns to the ring, and Mae Young's on the apron! Young grabs Ivory's hair long enough for Moolah to get to her feet. Ivory knocks Mae Young off the apron with the belt but Moolah wins the championship with the slowest roll-up in history.

WINNER: THE FABULOUS MOOLAH (NEW WWF WOMEN'S CHAMPION)

The Fabulous Moolah may have been the face here, but I feel we all lost this match alongside Ivory just by watching it. Even as part of my larger Network subscription I feel ripped off. Major respect to The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young for their work in the Attitude Era but big why the fuck to The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young for their work in the Attitude Era. Ivory looked greener than the dollars WWF paid her too much of at the time because she botched her two big spots and fell back on Moolah kinda lifting her knee the best she can. It was less than three minutes but felt like it lasted an eternity. I wish Moolah's first cover got the pin if they had to move the championship to her. – WORKRATE: 0.5/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 0.5/5 OVERALL 1/10
