This feud started at the beginning of the previous year. At Royal Rumble, they performed a posedown, after which Rude attacked Ultimate Warrior. To add to his momentum, Rick Rude took the Intercontinental Championship from Warrior at Wrestlemania V (with help from Bobby Heenan) although he lost it back that year’s Summerslam. When Warrior won the WWF Championship from Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 and had to vacate the IC belt. This bumped Rick Rude up the card to be Ultimate Warrior’s first Pay Per View challenger.
Whilst they set the cage up, there’s a gauntlet of promos.
Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan and Earthquake all get some mic time before Rick Rude
and Ultimate Warrior hype up the match. There seems to be an audio issue for Vince
on commentary as Rick Rude makes his way out with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.
Rude asks the crowd in his usual smarmy way to be quiet whilst he disrobes as a
young woman is shown in the crowd booing and laughing. The Ultimate Warrior sprints
to the ring and climbs the cage. He runs a few laps as Rude climbs the cage and
taunts Warrior from inside the ring.
Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper are on commentary
