KANE VS. MATT HARDY

Kane makes his way out first as JR calls him one of the most sadistic people in WWE. Matt Hardy makes his way out, and I miss this theme. He sprints down to the ring, meeting Kane with right hands.

 

KANE VS. MATT HARDY

WWE Vengeance 2004 (11^th July 2004)

  The bell rings and Kane knees Matt in the midsection and knocks him to the floor with a right hand. Matt Hardy continues the attack with lefts and rights, but is knocked on his arse with an uppercut.

  Kane runs into a back elbow and is sent into the ring post. Kane is sent into the announce table, Matt clears it off and hits Kane in the head with a monitor, but it’s Matt that goes down because of the momentum. Kane blocks a Twist of Fate on the announce table and shoves Hardy into the security wall. An uppercut sends Matt into the crowd, Kane removes the padding from the top of the security wall and drops Matt across it before sending him back over to ringside. Matt’s head is bounced off the apron before it gets in the ring for the first time. Kane boots Matt Hardy in the head, then starts choking him in the corner. Matt Hardy drops to the mat and Kane switches it up by choking Matt with his boot. Kane drops Matt’s chest across the ring apron, driving the last bit of oxygen from his lungs and Matt Hardy is able to roll out of the ring before Kane can continue. It doesn’t last long, as Kane knocks him down with a short-arm clothesline on the floor.

  Kane hits a sidewalk slam back in the ring and covers for a nearfall. This is during the time that Lita was pregnant, and we didn’t know who the father was. Kane pulls back on Matt’s neck in almost a camel clutch, twisting Matt Hardy’s neck until he fights out with right hands. Kane boots Matt and drives his head into the top turnbuckle. Kane strikes at Matt Hardy until he staggers out of the corner, across the ring. Matt gets his boots up to keep Kane at bay, but he runs into a clothesline. Kane uses his boot to choke Matt on the canvas, Matt Hardy escapes to the floor but is sent into the ramp. Kane sends Matt Hardy back into the ring and climbs to the top rope and hits the rolling clothesline (a move that I don’t think gets as much love as it deserves) before talking shit to Matt Hardy, shoving him away. Matt Hardy fights to his feet but is cut off with a knee to the gut and dumped through the ropes. Matt Hardy crawls towards a steel chair at ringside and he hits Kane in the ribs with it to cut off the attack. Matt Hardy’s momentum is cut short as he runs into a big boot from Kane.

  Kane sends Matt Hardy back into the ring and slides in the chair, but takes too long getting to the apron. Matt snaps Kane’s neck over the top rope and unloads right hands, Kane is knocked back and his ankle is tied in the ropes! The crowd wakes up as Matt Hardy takes free shots on Kane and grabs the ring bell. Kane unhooks his ankle but gets hit in the cranium with the ring bell! Kane is sent back into the ring, Matt Hardy hits the top rope leg drop but Kane powers out of the Twist of Fate. That was probably Matt’s fault for pandering for too long. Matt Hardy counters a Tombstone attempt into a Twist of Fate and covers but only gets 2. Kane sits up, but Matt goes back to attacking with right hands. Matt Hardy hits the ropes but runs into a goozle and eats one of the worst Chokeslams I’ve seen. Kane throws the ring steps into the ring and Lita runs down to the ring. She puts her pregnant self between Kane and Matt Hardy, to stop the attack. Kane throws the steps down and places Lita in the corner.

  Kane tells Lita to watch what he does to her boyfriend. He turns around and picks up the ring steps, but Matt Hardy hits the steps with the chair, knocking Kane down. Matt Hardy covers for the win!

WINNER: MATT HARDY

This match felt longer than 4 minutes, which is a problem. It turned around when Kane got trapped in the ropes, but the extended heat at the beginning was getting boring. Matt Hardy got the upset but it was a struggle getting there, the crowd didn’t seem invested really until it was almost over. [*] /10

After the match, Lita wants Matt to talk to her, she said she was trying to help him, but Matt’s pissed off because he didn’t want anything to happen to her or the baby and she shouldn’t have been out there. He tells Lita to stay away for a while so he can sort this out.
