RONDA ROUSEY VS. RUBY RIOTT

Charlotte Flair makes her way out, she’s going to watch the match from ringside. Renee Young, Michael Cole, and Corey Graves are on commentary for this match. Charly Carusso, the ring announcer, asks Charlotte if she has anything to do with Becky Lynch being suspended. Charlotte says Becky got herself suspended (when did I start writing a high school drama series?) Charlotte says she’s the best in WWE and says she’ll see who goes to face The Queen at Wrestlemania (with sign point) and impressively doesn’t stumble on “watch Ronda Rousey face Ruby Riott” the challenger makes her way out first, Ronda makes her wait before the music hits and she walks out dressed as Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat. We get in-ring introductions for the match

RONDA ROUSEY © VS. RUBY RIOTT (Raw Women’s Championship)

WWE Elimination Chamber 2019 (17th February 2019)

Ronda Rousey goes to lock up, but Ruby Riott kicks her in the midsection, dropping the champion quickly before mounting with right hands. Rousey gets to her feet and takes Riott down with some judo throws so Riott takes a break at ringside, although Rousey shouts at her all the way through, so it’s not really a break. Ruby Riott gets in the ring and backs away, Ronda has to stop in her tracks and Ruby gets her with a forearm kicks her in the midsection again, Rousey rolls back, Ruby Riott runs into a hip toss before Ronda Rousey hits the Piper’s Pit. She points to the Wrestlemania sign (might as well do it twice, it is the main event afterall.) Rousey puts on the Armbar and Ruby Riott taps.

WINNER: RONDA ROUSEY (STILL Raw Women’s Champion)

After the match Charlotte gets in the ring for a staredown with Ronda Rousey, BECKY LYNCH IS HERE! Becky makes her way through the crowd on crutches and makes it to the ring, after a long staredown Becky Lynch throws a crutch to Charlotte and attacks her with the other. Ronda Rousey watches on, grabbing the second crutch. Ronda turns her attention to Charlotte and is blindsided by Lynch! Becky Lynch lays into both of them with crutch shots until Security makes their way down. Corey Graves with a pretty funny insider line asking where they got Security from.

This was just a match to get Ronda through to Wrestlemania as a fighting champion. It was a good short-term story with Ronda taking out all three members of the Riott Squad but the match amounted to nothing. The post-match stuff was good build for Wrestlemania, so did it’s job, but I feel it went on too long. Also, Becky Lynch seemed to forget about her knee halfway through the beatdown. [*] 1.5/10
