DAVID FLAIR VS. DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE

Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan are on commentary for this match.

Earlier in the night, David Flair received a golden crowbar. He is shown admiring it before he attacks a stuffed toy with it. DDP has an interview with Gene Okerlund backstage, he says he’s sick of hearing about David Flair’s problems. He has problems for getting involved with Page’s wife. DDP makes his way out first and Tony says this started at Halloween Havoc when DDP beat Ric Flair. David Flair is already on the apron ad DDP tries to get in the ring, he knocks Page down to the floor with his golden crowbar starting the match.

DAVID FLAIR VS. DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (Crowbar on a Pole)

WCW Starrcade 1999 (19th December 1999)

David Flair reveals a Halloween Havoc shirt and panda makeup, he declares himself the winner and Charles Robinson checks on DDP on the floor. He tries to call the match but DDP decks the timekeeper and gets in the ring. David Flair hits knee strikes in the corner and focuses on the midsection of Page with ax handles and stomps. DDP rolls up Flair out of the corner but he kicks out at 2. Diamond Dallas Page fights to his feet after more shots to the ribs, he tries to pick up Flair for a slam but David Flair falls on top for a nearfall. More shots to the midsection by Flair but DDP pokes him in the eye. Flair is sent off the ropes, he tries a sunset flip but Page sits down, Flair counters at 2 for a nearfall of his own. David Flair hits a DDT for another 2 count.

He complains to the referee that it was 3 and starts choking DDP in the corner. Diamond Dallas Page connects with right hands and sends Flair into the corner, but runs into the boot. David Flair explodes out of the corner with a clothesline for a nearfall, he disputes it again as Page gets to his feet. David Flair blocks a kick and spins Page around but is decapitate with a discus clothesline, leading to a double-down. DDP is on his feet first, but Flair cuts him off with a low blow, he slams DDP and looks towards the crowbar but decides on the Figure Four leglock instead. David Flair gets some nearfalls, but Page reverses the pressure and forces a break. David Flair grabs the crowbar, but DDP ducks under the shot and hits the Diamond Cutter for the win.

WINNER: DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE

Scott Hudson says this match was the most offsense David Flair has ever got in. I can believe him and it didn’t help the match, it was basic and boring. It only lasted 3 minutes but felt longer, the fact that the only crowbar that was used was David Flair’s gift before the match started didn’t help either. The last 5 seconds and post match saved me from regretting opening the WWE Network. [½*] 0/10.

After the match DDP sits David Flair on the top rope and hits a Super Diamond Cutter. He places Flair in the middle of the ring and grabs the crowbar, but a woman runs in (who we would later learn is Daffney) and covers David Flair, stopping DDP in his tracks.
