Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match. Backstage, Trish Stratus wants Tyson Tomko in her corner tonight. Christian says Tomko’s his problem solver, Trish lets Tomko decide and whispers something in his ear about her dressing room. I bet she got the one with the working lightbulb or something? Anyway Tyson Tomko would love to be at ringside for Trish’s match, which is up next. The challenger enters first, dancing before she walks to the ring. JR says she’s been waiting for this match for a long time. She won the #1 contender’s match at Vengeance so it checks out. Trish Stratus walks down with both the Women’s Championship and Tyson Tomko.

Victoria gets a shot in on Trish Stratus then lifts her overhead and brings her down into a gutbuster. Victoria kicks at Trish’s midsection and a dropkick sends her through the ropes. Victoria climbs to the top turnbuckle but Tyson Tomko carries Trish out of the way. Victoria brings Trish back into the ring, Trish Stratus stuns her with a back elbow and Victoria is sent into the ringpost, then hits her back on the floor. Trish brings her back in and covers, getting a nearfall. There’s a replay of the journey into the ring post as Trish gets another nearfall, then she kicks Victoria in the ribs. Trish with stomps and mounted rights before covering for another nearfall, Trish keeps her on the mat with an armbar before slamming Victoria’s head into the mat. Victoria is lifted into the air by her hair and Trish lets her drop. Trish covers but Victoria kicks out at 2.

Trish Stratus covers and only gets 2. Stratus goes back to the chinlock, but Victoria fights to her feet, they switch sides on the headlock before Victoria elbows her way free and fires at Trish with right hands. Trish Stratus is sent into the corner, Victoria hits the running shoulder attacks to the midsection and hits the fireman’s carry into a sidewalk slam, she covers 1, 2, 2.5 before Trish gets her shoulder up. Victoria with another slam, positioning Trish Stratus for the standing moonsault which gets another close nearfall. Trish with a matrix-style duck of Victoria’s clothesline attempt, Victoria catches the Chick Kick and plants Trish before slingshotting herself over on to Tyson Tomko! Tomko chases Victoria around ringside, she slides in the ring and runs into the Stratusfaction by Trish, 1, 2, 3!
WINNER: TRISH STRATUS (STILL WWE Women’s Champion)
This started hot, but it slowed down before the end. They were given 8 minutes and could have carried on the energy, but didn’t for some reason. Slightly disappointing to me, then a crap finish to boot. [*] 1/10.
After the match Tyson
Tomko lifts Victoria in a choke but is attacked by a mystery woman.
