THE HURRICANE
& ROSEY VS. LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH
WWE Unforgiven 2005 (18th September 2005)
Lance Cade locks up with The Hurricane to start the match. Cade stuns Hurricane with a forearm, Cade connects with his elbow to the back of Hurricane’s head and knocks him down with a clubbing blow. Cade looks proud of himself and slams Hurricane, who rolls out of the way of an elbow drop. Right hands by The Hurricane land on Cade’s jaw before he’s sent off the ropes. A leapfrog and dropdown by The Hurricane, Lance Cade holds on to the top rope as Hurricane poses, then runs into an arm drag. Murdoch tries to run interference but is sent over with an arm drag too. Rosey hits Murdoch from the apron, he stumbles into a headscissors from Hurricane and out of the ring he goes, he’s distracted by Lillian Garcia at ringside. Lance Cade tells him after the match and to wait for the tag. Cade is back in the ring, he sends Hurricane off the ropes to escape the headlock and knocks him down with a back elbow.
Trevor Murdoch makes the tag and unloads on Hurricane before sending him into the corner. Murdoch runs into a back elbow from Hurricane who hits a missile dropkick from the middle rope and covers but Murdoch kicks out at 1. Rosey makes the tag, Hurricane sends Murdoch off the ropes into a drop toehold then Rosey hits the falling headbutt for 2. Lance thinks twice about interfering giving his partner time to cut off Rosey, a headbutt by Murdoch has no effect on the ISLANDER HEAD! Then Murdoch is dropped into the corner with a headbutt from Rosey. Rosey hits the running ass attack and covers, this time Cade breaks it up at two. Lance Cade tags himself in and hits the ropes, getting momentum for a knee drop. He covers Rosey but only gets a nearfall. He transitions into a front facelock on the big man as Murdoch is more focused on Garcia again at ringside. The Hurricane runs around the ring, blocks a shot from Murdoch and knocks him back away from Lilian Garcia, before giving chase. The Hurricane slides through the corner of the ring under the bottom rope but Murdoch easily catches him with a hanging DDT on the floor. Back in the ring Rosey counters a headlock with a back suplex and goes to check on his friend. Lance Cade tries to attack Rosey from behind but is caught with left hands from the Southpaw. Lance Cade is sent off the ropes into a backdrop, Rosey squashes him in the corner with a clothesline, Murdoch is sent packing with a right hand. Rosey makes some distance for the running splash but Trevor Murdoch moves Cade out of the corner and makes the tag. Murdoch immediately covers but only gets a 2 count. A leg drop and elbow drop still can’t put him away, so Murdoch gets some right hands on the mat. Rosey rolls to the floor, but Lance Cade is there to meet him with an ax handle from behind.
Rosey is
sent into the side of the ring before he’s rolled back inside, Trevor Murdoch
covers but Rosey kicks out at 1. The Hurricane is seen being brought to his
feet as Lance Cade gets the tag, he strikes at Rosey and hits a neckbreaker.
The Hurricane looks at the screen as he’s assisted up the ramp (not like he has
a choice, it’s a giant screen right ahead of him) as Murdoch is tagged back in.
After a miscommunication Rosey is sent off the ropes but knocks them both down
with a clothesline! The Hurricane sees the screen and starts making his way
back to the ring. The referee allows the tag from Rosey for reasons that no one
will ever understand. The Hurricane throws forearm shots at his left arm hangs
limp, with no feeling. He keeps the challengers at bay momentarily until they
hit the chop block & lariat combination, Trevor Murdoch covers Hurricane
for the win.
WINNER: CADE & MURDOCH (NEW World Tag Champions)
The match never really got going,, the Lilian Garcia stuff
was weird and took away from the match, then I don’t remember it leading to
much anyway. The High/Low finisher is a good move for the new champions but
that’s the only redeeming thing in my opinion. [* ¾] 2/10.
