TRIPLE H VS. CM PUNK

If Triple H loses this match he must resign as WWE COO. Michael Cole, Booker T and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match. CM Punk makes his way out first, showing his ice cream bar shirt as Lawler says he changed the face of WWE. Triple H makes his way down and Booker T says this match is personal as Punk attacked the McMahon family.

TRIPLE H VS. CM PUNK (No disqualification)

WWE Night of Champions 2011 (18th September 2011)

CM Punk jumps Triple H from behind on his entrance, and the referee rings the bell. Punk follows to the floor and rains down blows on Triple H before sending him over the barricade into the time keepers area. CM Punk starts clearing one of the announce desks and it’s COO H’s turn to attack from behind. He sends CM Punk through the ring on the corner and lays in right hands. CM Punk is sent across the ringside area with an irish whip and hits the barricade, then gets sent over the announce table, silencing the match for a moment. Triple H stomps at Punk, following with mounted rights on the floor. Punk is sent on to the announce table but counters a Pedigree into a Go to Sleep attempt, Triple H gets free and shoves Punk to the floor. CM Punk slides in the ring, leaving Triple H standing on the announce table, they stare each other down until Triple H makes his way back into the ring and commentary are back at the desk. They start exchanging punches and Punk gets the best of it, backing Triple H into the corner, Punk kicks Triple H in the gut and goes back to right hands, but Triple H covers up and is able to trade places. He sends Punk across the ring into another Pedigree attempt but Punk fights out, backing Triple H into the corner and connecting with repeated shoulder blocks. Triple H is sent across the ring into the turnbuckles but the running knee is avoided. Punk is sent over to the floor.

Triple H sends him into the barricade and the side of the ring. Triple H places Punk in the ring and pulls at his ankle, swinging Punk’s knee into the ring post. CM Punk is dragged back to the floor and sent into the barricade. He fights back with right hands and sends Triple H into the barricade. CM Punk positions Triple H against the ring post, shaking some feeling into his injured knee before using it to hit Triple H in the jaw. Triple H counters the bulldog, sending Punk into the crowd. Triple H hits an ax handle from the barricade. Punk’s beaten through the crowd, Triple H with more mounted punches on the floor. They move towards the stage and CM Punk actually gets what looks close to offense with right hands, then turns the tables, hitting Triple H with a trash can. Triple H is sent into the barricade, he knocks it over and is out by the stage. CM Punk kicks H’s in the ribs and connects with some crossface shots as he stands over him. Punk is catapulted into the LED board. He sets up the Pedigree but CM Punk sends him into the LED board, a back drop sends Triple H out of sight until a camera man completely breaks the illusion. CM Punk hits an ax handle from the LED board, then throws sandbags at Triple H, who’s trying to get away. Triple H’s head is driven into the LED board in an unexpected homage to The Bushwhackers.

They fight their way back to the ring, Punk makes a pit stop for a trashcan and chair, but only bringing the latter into the ring. Punk hits Triple H across the back with the chair and mocks the crotch chop before covering for a nearfall. The chair is wedged between the ropes in the corner by Punk, who kicks at Triple H. Triple H gets some shots in as he tries to get to his feet, but is caught in a clutch from Punk, who connects with knees. CM Punk hits the ropes but runs into a spinebuster from Triple H for 2. CM Punk is launched into the steel chair in the corner and falls to the floor! Triple H follows slowly as Punk uses the announce table to get to his feet. Triple H clips him down with a chop block, going back to the knee. Punk’s leg is wrapped around the ringpost as he screams in pain. Triple H connects with a chair shot to the knee and crotch chops at Punk but for some reason goes for the Figure Four on the floor, Punk counters sending Triple H into the ring steps. Triple H starts clearing the Spanish Announce Table as he figures out which way is up and he acquires a monitor, but Punk kicks him in the head before Triple H has a chance to use it. Triple H is laid across the announce table as CM Punk climbs to the top turnbuckle and hits the elbow drop through the table!

They show the replay as both guys struggle back to the ring, and Lawler with the most on the nose remark I’ve heard in a long time; “That was Savage” The Miz and R-Truth run down the ramp from nowhere for no reason. They attack Punk and Triple H in the ring, The Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on Triple H, CM Punk eats a Lie Detector from R-Truth! They place Punk over Triple H, and I have to mention the “Hogan owns Bret” sign in the crowd. Scott Armstrong (brother of Road Dogg) makes the count, 1, 2, Triple H kicks out! The Miz and Scott Armstrong have words, Armstrong blocks a shot and decks Miz! R-Truth attacks him from behind and Awesome Truth double-team Armstrong. Why the fuck not? John Laurinaitis is making his way out now (brother of Legion of Doom’s Animal – look, I’m just getting all the tags I can now, the match is an after thought.) Triple H and CM Punk are now back on their feet, and offer up a receipt for Miz & R-Truth. The Miz is sent off the ropes into a Spinebuster from Triple H, Truth is just sent out of the ring, and he lands on Armstrong. Triple H hits a Pedigree on CM Punk after their interruption and covers. A second referee makes his way down but is intercepted by Johnny Ace. CM Punk is able to recover and hits a Go to Sleep on Triple H, now Laurinaitis allows him in the ring but R-Truth pulls Punk to the floor, breaking the count. CM Punk hits another Go to Sleep, this time on R-Truth before getting back to the match.

CM Punk springboards into a Pedigree from Triple H 1,2, PUNK KICKS OUT! The crowd starts looking around and we see Kevin Nash walking through the crowd, because this match needs another run-in! He knocks them both down with right hands and I genuinely feel jealous of them, I have to mention a sign in the crowd that says “Kevin Nashtray” which I thought was worth a chuckle. Nash attacks Triple H in the corner, Punk saves his opponent from a Jacknife Powerbomb but Nash cuts off the flurry of clubbing blows with a knee to the midsection, Jacknife Powerbomb to Punk! Kevin Nash knocks Triple H down again and clears the announce table, but turns around into a sledgehammer shot from Triple H! Triple H gets back in the ring as the fans chant for Punk and hits another Pedigree for the win.

WINNER: TRIPLE H

This was a match of two parts, one on one and free for all. Triple H got too much in the one on one portion, making Punk look like he didn’t deserve to be there, although the work on Punk’s left leg gave me some hope for the first 10 minutes of the match. Then everyone got involved for reasons, turning it into a shambles. The match went too long and it had so much potential, when did I put a WCW show on from 2000? [**] 3.75/10.

After the match Triple H tries to milk a reaction that isn’t coming for his “overbooked epic” I know these guys lead a clean life but I don’t, I need a drink.
