JERRY LAWLER VS. MARK HENRY

Jerry “The King” Lawler makes his way out with a microphone, but Vince McMahon just talks over him on commentary. He’s joined by Jim Ross and Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig at the announce desk. Lawler gets to the ring and says he will give Mark Henry a wrestling lesson he won’t forget.

JERRY LAWLER VS. MARK HENRY

WWF In Your House: Mind Games

 (22nd September 1996)

Jerry Lawler says he will show everyone that Mark Henry can’t even get out of a simple headlock, I can see a flaw in his strategy tonight if he’s going to call every move like this. He calls for a time out before anything, but does put the promised headlock on Henry. Mark Henry counters into a hammerlock and shoves Lawler to the mat. Mark Henry comes back with a headlock of his own, Lawler counters into a hammerlock, but is put in one by Henry and shoved into the corner. Jerry Lawler tries to slam Henry, but it goes as well as you would expect, Henry lifts Lawler overhead and slams him to the mat. Jerry Lawler hits the ropes, trying to budge Mark Henry with a shoulder block, but he doesn’t move. Henry uses The King’s own momentum against him, sending Lawler through the ropes and into the guard rail. When Lawler gets bac in the ring at around 4, he reaches into his tights whilst Henry has the referee’s attention. He hits Mark Henry with right hands, using something in his hand and cutting off Henry’s momentum. Mark Henry eats some unassisted shots but they don’t phase him, he sends his knee into Lawler’s ribs. Mark Henry lifts Lawler into the Argentine backbreaker for the submission.

WINNER: MARK HENRY

This match was under a minute but felt a lot longer, which is never a good thing. Two short matches with no real meaning on the same show, at least this one debuted someone that would be with the company over 2 decades later. [DUD] 0/10.
