Earlier in the night, Brie Bella was backstage talking about
the feud where both she and Stephanie McMahon were arrested. Instead of
wallowing in self-pity like Stephanie did, she used the time to think about
everything Stephanie’s done to herself and Daniel Bryan, her husband. She won’t
squander this opportunity to beat down on Stephanie McMahon because it doesn’t
come often.
John “Bradshaw”
Layfield, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Michael Cole are on commentary for this
match. Stephanie McMahon makes her way down to the ring first and yeah, that’s
definitely some attire she’s wearing for this match. Brie Bella makes
her way out and Michael Cole says this has been brewing for Brie for a year. That’s
definitely a sentence that’s easier to type than say. Ronda Rousey is shown at
ringside with I think Shayna Bayzler, but only Rousey gets referenced.
STEPHANIE
MCMAHON VS. BRIE BELLA
WWE Summerslam 2014 (August 2014)
They lock up and Stephanie McMahon backs Brie into the corner as Michael Cole mentions that McMahon hasn’t had a match in over a year (which isn’t true, she had a match a couple of months previous on Raw) McMahon breaks and they lock up again, Brie is forced between the ropes and Steph uses the 5 count again. Brie Bella takes her over with an arm drag, they lock up and Brie gets another arm drag. Stephanie McMahon is trapped in a waistlock but a back elbow knocks Brie into the corner. Stephanie drives her shoulder into Brie’s midsection and shoves her to the mat. Brie Bella gets to her feet in the corner, with some assistance from McMahon and Stephanie kicks her in the ribs. Brie’s face is sent into the mat, Stephanie McMahon uses elbow strikes in the corner and sends Brie Bella across the ring before stealing Daniel Bryan’s taunt. Brie Bella blocks a slap from Stephanie and tries to put on the Yes Lock but McMahon scrambles out of the ring. Stephanie McMahon cuts off a tope through the ropes and gets back in the ring so we can see a replay. Brie Bella barely beats the referee’s count, Stephanie McMahon hits a DDT and covers, but only gets a nearfall. Stephanie McMahon drops Bella with a short-arm clothesline and drags her around the ring by the hair. McMahon with a somersault neck snap for another nearfall, the fans chant “you still got it" to Stephanie McMahon as she pulls back on Brie’s shoulders. Brie Bella tries to get to her feet but Steph sends her back down to the mat, Stephanie McMahon goes back to working the shoulders. Brie Bella kicks at Stephanie from the mat, pissing her off. McMahon runs into a Lou Thesz press and Brie lets off a flurry of rights. Brie gets her breath back in the corner, Steph runs into a back elbow, then Brie sidesteps her, sending McMahon into the turnbuckles. Brie Bella with the roundhouse kicks in the corner until the referee backs her away. Stephanie McMahon is sent across the ring and she tries to bail, but Brie Bella corners her and stomps away. More roundhouse kicks in the corner from Brie Bella and McMahon is sent back across the ring, Brie Bella hits a missile dropkick from the middle row and covers 1, 2, McMahon kicks out at the last second! Stephanie McMahon gets to her feet and tries to escape the ring but Bella brings her down with an alley oop and right hands. Triple H runs down the ramp, followed by Nikki Bella. The distraction allows Stephanie to attempt a Pedigree but it’s countered into a Yes Lock! Triple H pulls the referee from the ring but eats a dropkick through the ropes from Brie. Nikki Bella cuts off Stephanie McMahon who backs away into Brie. Nikki Bella pulls Stephanie McMahon out of the way and knocks her sister down with a forearm. JBL with a strange call “what does every dog need?” before Stephanie McMahon hits a Pedigree for the win.
WINNER: STEPHANIE MCMAHON
This was a really good match, Steph is a heat magnet and
she looked good even eith her limited experience and Brie looked good in
defeat, which is all we can ask for. The finish wasn’t terrible, but led to
worse. [**¼] 4/10.
