Earlier in the night, Mike Awesome was backstage with Judge Jeff Jones, staring intensely at the camera as Jones talks for him. He says he's glad Spike's pissed because his girlfriend got her teeth knocked out. Awesome says if Spike wants the title, he'll have to take it. Spike's backstage with his girlfriend, he shows the gap and says he wants to hurt Awesome. Joey Styles and Cyrus are on commentary for this match. Spike Dudley enters first and has one of the crew help him set some tables up at ringside. He grabs the microphone, saying Awesome makes a name for himself putting people through tables and he makes a living going through tables and beating “big goofy morons” before calling him out. Mike Awesome walks through the curtain and I'm glad they can keep his theme music.

ECW Guilty as Charged 2000 (9th January 2000)
Spike Dudley jumps the champion as he slides in the ring, but it takes one clubbing blow from Mike Awesome to put Spike down. Awesome lifts Spike overhead and he's sent over the top rope through a table. Spike is back in the ring, but Awesome takes him across the other side and launches him over through two stacked tables. Joey Styles wants the match stopped, although he doesn't know if it's started. He sends Spike into the crowd and gets a running start to launch himself over the guard rail. A right hand from Awesome sends Spike back to ringside, Awesome gets him back in the ring and hits a slingshot splash. Spike kicks out at 2 so Mike Awesome sends him across the ring into a clothesline into the face. He calls for the Awesome Bomb, Spike fights out of a powerbomb with right hands and a hurricanrana sends Awesome to ringside, but he landed on his feet. Spike launches himself at Awesome with a rolling shoulder block, Awesome counters the Acid Drop, sending Spike into the fans. Spike is quick to scramble back to the ringside area, grabbing a chair from under the ring. Even though he was just in, you know, the crowd? On chairs?
Anyway, he climbs onto Awesome, slips the first time , and hits Awesome across the back. The second time he jumps off hitting Awesome across the back with the chair. Spike Dudley throws the chair at Awesome's head and gets back in the ring. He tries to dive through the ropes but trips, Awesome catches him as the fans let Spike know about his mistake. Mike Awesome and Jeff Jones join in with the “you fucked up” chant before Spike is thrown into the ring. Awesome climbs to the top rope, Spike Dudley cuts him off with right hands and hits a super hurricanrana on Awesome, but the champion is back to his feet and he runs through Spike with a clothesline. He hits a running splash but only gets a nearfall. Spike Dudley is sent from corner to corner but he gets his boot up Awesome runs into Spike's boot a second time, he charges for the third attempt and Spike gets both feet up, knocking Awesome off his feet. Spike hits the double stomp from the top rope, he spears Awesome through the ropes and goes back for the chair. Mike Awesome boots it back in his face and pulls the guard rail closer to the ring, he sends Spike over and hits him over the head with a chair, busting him open. Mike Awesome gets back into the ring, SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE OVER THE GUARD RAIL! THE GUY'S 300LBS! Mike Awesome moves the first three rows back a few inches on the landing.
Awesome throws the remains of Spike over the guardrail and hits him with a right hand. He has time to reposition one of the remaining tables at ringside, Awesome sends Spike's shoulder into the ring post then brings them both onto the apron. Spike Dudley fights off the Awesome Bomb and hits the Acid Drop on Awesome through the table! He wraps the cables around Awesome's throat and hits him with a chair shot. Spike Dudley gets on to the top rope and drops onto Awesome with another chair shot to the head. Mike Awesome gets to his feet, so Spike brings it back into the ring, he tries to hit another Acid Drop, but Awesome counters and sends him through a table on the floor, before dropping to the mat in exhaustion. Judge Jeff Jones brings another table into the ring at Awesome's request as Mike Awesome drags Spike Dudley back into the ring. He makes sure the table's in the perfect position before setting up the Awesome Bomb, Spike lands on his feet behind Awesome, Acid Drop is countered but Spike lands on his feet again, until Awesome runs through him with a clothesline. Mike Awesome lays Spike across a table and climbs to the top rope, Spike is able to cut Awesome off with right hands, but Awesome stuns Spike, he sets up the Awesome Bomb and steps up to the top rope, sending Spike through the table! AWESOME BOMB FROM THE TOP ROPE THROUGH A TABLE! Mike Awesome covers and Spike's down till the count of 50.
WINNER: MIKE AWESOME (STILL ECW Champion)
This is an amazing match, on paper you think it will be a squash but Spike Dudley is one of the best believable little men in wrestling. The personal animosity in the match helped make his hope spots both more aggressive and believable. In my opinion, it's one of ECW's best matches. .– As a match, it's *** but personally I'd rate it 8/10
