Earlier in the night, British Bulldog confronted Mr. McMahon about his title shot. McMahon says he got the title shot he asked for but he's not happy with The Rock being the referee in the match. He throws a trash can in rage and it hit Stephanie McMahon. This lead to her needing medical attention later that night and Bulldog refusing to apologize. Shane McMahon was also there in the office, to complete the triangle. Triple H used the location for cheap heat, so Jim Ross explains that's his personal feelings, not those of the WWF as X-Pac makes his way out. Michael Hayes joins him on commentary for this match. This was during the era that Bulldog wrestled in jeans.
BRITISH BULLDOG VS. X-PAC
WWF Survivor Series 1998 (2nd October 1999)
An “England” football chant distracts British Bulldog before the match, he locks up and shoves X-Pac down. They lock up again, X-Pac takes Bulldog down with an armdrag and kips up, crotch chopping to frustrate Bulldog. Another lockup leads to a headlock by Bulldog, X-Pac tries to send Bulldog off the ropes but British Bulldog Is able to hold on, X-Pac gets free with punches and is able to send Bulldog off the ropes, Bulldog knocks him down with a shoulder block. He goes back to the headlock, X-Pac sends him off the ropes and is knocked down with a clothesline. X-Pac goes prone, he can't get the hip toss so goes up and over, stumbling. Bulldog catches a spinning heel kick and slams X-Pac down to the mat before throwing him through the ropes. British Bulldog sends X-Pac into the guard rail and gets back in the ring. X-Pac slowly follows him, British Bulldog lifts him for a delayed vertical suplex, letting the blood rush to X-Pac's head before he hits the mat and covering for a nearfall.
British Bulldog puts a chinlock on X-Pac on the mat. X-Pac gets to his feet and breaks free with elbows to the midsection. X-Pac hits the ropes but runs into a knee lift. British Bulldog goes back to the chinlock as JR mentions the big Summerslam 1992 match. The arm drops twice but X-Pac comes alive on the third check and accidentally breaks free, he's sent off the ropes into a sleeperhold by Bulldog but sends him off the ropes into a spinning heel kick. X-Pac blocks right hands, hitting Bulldog with his own. Another heel kick sends Bulldog back into the corner and X-Pac hits the Bronco Buster. He shoves referee Tim White away and walks into a military press. Bulldog crotches X-Pac on the top rope then lifts him into the running Powerslam for the win.
WINNER: BRITISH BULLDOG
This was a good match, it was unique seeing Bulldog getting a heel reaction in his home country. He used his power game to get the best of X-Pac and showed a more aggressive streak. The ending seemed sudden but it was decent enough. Also, fuck the crotching spot near the end– As a match it's * ½ but personally I'd rate it 2.5/10
