Time for another King of the Ring qualifier. Bret Hart had automatically qualified and this match filled one of the
seven final spots. Razor Ramon enters first. Vince McMahon, Randy“Macho Man” Savage and Jerry “The King” Lawler are
on commentary for this match. El Matador enters, who if you
didn't know is Tito Santana and Lawler is trying to persuade
his colleagues the tournament will crown a pretender to his throne. El
Matador waves his flag in front of Ramon, because why not?
EL
MATADOR VS. RAZOR RAMON
WWF
Superstars (8th May 1993)
Ramon wants to lock up but El
Matador slips behind with a waistlock, Razor Ramon walks to
the ropes to break and elbows El Matador back. Ramon
stomps and brings El Matador to his feet, two right hands soften him
up before he's sent across the ring. El Matador hits the flying forearm and covers
but Ramon gets his foot on the bottom rope at 2. El Matador punches
Ramon on the floor until the referee backs him off. Razor Ramon tries
a kick to the gut, but it gets caught and Matador pokes him in the
eye and wrenches Ramon's arm, snapping it over his shoulder. Ramon
sends him off the ropes again but the clothesline is ducked and
Matador goes back to the arm wrench, he is sent off the ropes again
into a stun gun and sells it like death as Ramon stomps him. Razor
Ramon hits right hands but Matador fights back, sending Ramon down
with a running right. El Matador slams Ramon down, then again before
heading to the top rope. El Matador hits the crossbody but Ramon
rolls through and pins Matador.
WINNER: RAZOR RAMON
This was a nice showcase for both guys before the
tournament. El Matador got more in this match than I expected going
in and they had a competitive match in a condensed timeframe, it
wasn't going to be a classic but it served its purpose.– ** match
but personally 5/10
