Before the match we see Gene Okurland with Hulk Hogan,
who is working out in his private gym. We go back to King Kong Bundy
attacking Hogan as Hulk is defending his WWF Championship against DonMuraco. The doctor has told Hogan not to go through with the match,
but Hogan has a commitment to defend his championship, even with
taped up ribs. This match was part of the Calirfornia card. Jesse
Ventura is backstage with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and King Kong Bundy. Heenan
says he will soon be managing the WWF Champion, Bundy says he has
Hogan's number and confirms he will be the next champion. Jesse
Ventura, Lord Alfred Hayes and Elveria are on commentary. Tommy
Ladorda, the Los Angeles Dodgers manager at the time is doing the
ring announcements for the match. Young “Silver Spoon Actor Ricky
Schroder is also the guest time-keeper. Special guest referee is
“Hawaiian Eye” Robert Conrad. The match is announced as escape
only rules before King Kong Bundy & The Brain make their way to
the ring. Hulk Hogan follows and the place explodes. He shakes the
cage and I doubt Vince McMahon's pre-match “reinforced” claim.

HOGAN © VS. KING KONG BUNDY (Steel Cage)
WWF
Wrestlemania 2 (7th April 1986)
(C) WWE
The bell rings
and they lock up before exchanging rights. Hogan gets the better of
it, backing Bundy into the ropes. Hulk Hogan gets a run-up for one
final right and starts chopping at Bundy, then sends him off the
ropes into a big boot. King Kong Bundy is still standing but
staggering around the ring. Elveria mentions she hasn't seen this
much flesh before as Hogan chokes Bundy with the strap of his gear.
She compares it to the horror movies she has on her show as Bundy
blocks a cage shot, but gets hit in the ribs. Hogan irish whips Bundy
from corner to corner and follows with a clothesline, carrying on the
attack in the corner. King Kong Bundy is sent across the ring, Hogan
runs into him but Bundy doesn't move! They each block an attempt to
be sent into the cage and Bundy cuts off Hogan's attack with a shot
to the back. He kicks Hogan in the gut and drops him with an elbow to
the back of the neck.
King Kong Bundy targets the ribs with boots and a slam
before forcing Hogan's face into the mat. King Kong Bundy goes for
the door, but Hogan is able to grab the ankle. Bundy comes back in
and picks up Hogan, running his back into the steel cage. Bobby
Heenan encourages Bundy to try the door again, but Hogan dives at him
with a waistlock. King Kong Bundy removes the tape from Hogan's ribs
and it just looks ridiculous. He chokes Hogan with the tape. Jesse
Ventura says he can do what he wants since there's no referee. That
completely nullifies Robert Conrad's paycheck. King Kong Bundy ties
Hogan to the rope, but he slips free and brings him back into the
match. Hogan softens Bundy with rights and sends him across the ring,
following with a running back elbow. King Kong Bundy is sent off the
ropes and into the cage, knocking him off his feet.
Bobby Heenan reaches at Bundy through the cage, why
didn't he pack brass knuckles? King Kong Bundy is busted open, so
Hogan begins to target the cut. We go to a camera over one of the
corners as Hogan rakes at Bundy. King Kong Bundy is sent into the
cage a few times, he looks like he's climbing over the top of the
cage but instead decides to choke Bundy across the top rope. Bundy
sells the cut like Triple H would in the future as Hogan tries to
lift him. Bundy falls on top of Hogan and The Brain tries to guide
him to the door. Hogan brings Bundy back into the ring, using his
tape to choke Bundy. King Kong Bundy blocks a right hand by Hogan,
knocking him back then sends the champion across the ring. King Kong
Bundy hits a running Avalanche in the corner followed by a Big Splash
on Hogan's injured ribs. King Kong Bundy is halfway out of the door
before Hogan grabs the ankle, stopping the attempt again. King Kong
Bundy cuts Hogan off with a club to the back of the neck but the
Avalanche is no-sold! Hulk Hogan sends Bundy across the ring and he
walks out of the corner into a scoop slam. Hulk Hogan climbs up the
cage, but Heenan climbs the other side, giving King Kong Bundy time
to recover and follow Hulk Hogan, he grabs Hogan's tights but gets
kicked to the ground. Hulk Hogan climbs over the top of the cage and
kicks at Heenan as King Kong Bundy crawls for the door. Hulk Hogan
drops to the floor before Bundy's feet can touch the floor.
WINNER: HULK HOGAN
They put a lot into this match, guests for no real
reason and it was your basic Hulk Hogan vs. Monster feud. It came
down to Bundy's target vs. Hulk-a-mania The match was better than
expected, but I did go in with low expectations..– [**] match but
personally 3.5/10
After the match Bobby Heenan rushes inside the cage,
trying to keep Hulk Hogan out, but the champion gets in the ring,
sending Bobby “The Brain” Heenan into the cage to send the fans
home happy.
