TEAM TRIPLE H VS. TEAM RANDY ORTON

Randy Orton was kicked out of Evolution after winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Chris Benoit at Summerslam. He lost the title to Triple H at Unforgiven the following month and faced Ric lair in a career-making match at Taboo Tuesday. Edge at this point was feeling underappreciated on Raw and recently turned heel, siding with Evolution. To be fair, he was right, from his return in 2004 he really kicked it up a gear. Chris Jericho was feuding with Batista recently over the Intercontinental Championship, but lost the belt to Shelton Benjamin last month at Taboo Tuesday. Maven's also there and he won Tough Enough and once eliminated Undertaker from the Royal Rumble.

It turns out Maven won't be there, as tonight's honorary team-mate, Gene Snitsky, attacks him backstage before the match. So, to reiterate Team Triple H consists of Triple H, Edge, Batista & Gene Snitsky
Team Orton consists of Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Maven and Chris Jericho

TEAM ORTON VS. TEAM TRIPLE H (Survivor Series Elimination)
WWE Survivor Series 2004 (14th November 2004)

Chris Benoit starts in with Edge, they lock up and Edge is backed into the corner, Benoit attacks with right hands, bringing Edge out of the corner and sending him into the ropes. Edge runs into a knife-edged chop, he gets to his feet and gets another so he takes a breather on the floor. Benoit attacks as Edge tries to get him in the ring, he brings Edge in himself, sending him across the ring. This time Edge grabs the top rope to stop the momentum and tags in Gene Snitsky. Randy Orton tags in and talks trash to Snitsky. Snitsky shoves Orton but Orton replies with right hands and a kick to the gut. Randy Orton beats Snitsky to the ground with clubbing blows and panders to the crowd before stomping on him. He drags Snitsky to his corner, tagging in Jericho. He holds Snitsky for Jericho to boot him in the gut, a right hand from Jericho softens Snitsky so he's sent into the corner. Chris Jericho lays the boots to Snitsky. Snitsky is sent to the opposite corner but he explodes out with a clothesline, running through Jericho.

Snitsky drags Jericho to Evolution's corner and tags in Triple H. Anyone that has spent 5 minutes on the internet looking at this era of Raw can guess he's the current World Heavyweight Champion. Instead of defending his title, he is working towards 2 weeks of Evolution having full control of Raw. Edge and Snitsky also get their weeks if Team Triple H win, so was he going to try and get those weeks for Ric Flair instead? He knees Jericho in the gut but an irish whip is reversed and Triple H runs into a back elbow. Randy Orton is back in, kicking his former mentor in the gut and punching him. Triple H is slumped in the corner, Orton unloads with lefts and rights then stomps Triple H down. He backs away to avoid the DQ as Triple H gets to his feet. Orton with another kick to the midsection and a European uppercut, but Triple H reverses the irish whip and knocks Orton down with a high knee strike. Orton sold that like he was almost decapitated.

Triple H tags Batista in, he brings Orton to his feet and they fuck up Orton being sent head-first into the top turnbuckle. Batista hammers away with right hands, then shoulder blocks to Orton in the corner. He brings Orton out of the corner and chokes him with a shin. Batista hits a delayed powerslam and covers but only gets 2 ½. Edge gets the tag, elbow dropping Orton and hitting a combination of right hands. Edge brings Orton to his feet and hits him with more rights, but Orton fights back. Edge cuts that off with a drop toehold and covers for 2. Edge hits a standing dropkick and attacks Jericho on the apron. It gives Orton enough time to recover, he hits Edge with a European uppercut and a clothesline, but goes down himself. He slowly gets the tag to Chris Benoit, who knocks down every member of Team Triple H before sending the captain off the ropes, then charges and knocks him down.

A baseball slide by Benoit keeps Batista and Snitsky at ringside momentarily, but they slide in, pissed off. Snitsky gets a german suplex first, followed by Batista. Triple H eats three in succession. Chris Benoit hits a snap suplex on Edge, who lands on Triple H. Chris Benoit hits them both with a diving headbutt. He covers Triple H but Snitsky breaks up the pin. Jericho attacks Snitsky and sends him out to the floor. Chris Benoit puts Triple H in the sharpshooter, but Triple H holds on for a pretty long time before Snitsky saves it for his team again. He starts trying to intimidate the referee but Jericho pulls him out of the ring. Edge has entered the ring, but gets caught in the crossface, this time Batista saves it. It would have made more sense for Batista to save Triple H really. Gene Snitsky has the referee distracted as Triple H hits Benoit with a Pedigree, Edge covers and JR mentions he's the legal man, so Chris Benoit is eliminated.

Chris Jericho enters for his team, looking a lot more fresh than Edge. He attacks with rights but Edge reverses the irish whip. Triple H attacks from the apron and Edge comes off the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker. His tag gets to both Triple H and Snitsky, they begin to argue over who should be legal. Triple H shoves Snitsky but is shoved back and lands on his arse. Batista gets in Snitsky's face so Jericho takes advantage, tripping the champion and putting on the Walls of Jericho. Batista pauses the conversation to break it up and when he gets back to it, Orton attacks him from behind sending him into Snitsky. I guess Triple H is legal then, Snitsky rolls out of the ring with Batista as Jericho hits the bulldog to Triple H. Ric Flair trips Jericho as he tries the Lionsault and gets ejected from ringside. Batista sends Jericho into the corner, but Orton goes to help his partner. Flair tries to get back to ringside as Batista is being double-teamed. He gets sent off the ropes but runs through them with a double clothesline.

Batista throws Orton out of the ring and hits Jericho with a spinebuster. He sets up a running clothesline but Orton grabs his ankle, Batista tries to grab for him but Orton has the World title belt and hits Batista with it! Batista walks into an enziguri by Jericho and gets eliminated. Triple H gets in the ring, but is immediately cut off by Jericho. Edge is dropkicked off the apron by Y2J but Batista flattens him with the clothesline. King says it's fine because he was on his way out. Triple H slowly tags Snitsky in, who stomps on Jericho before sending him into the corner. Jericho bounces out of the corner into a slow back body drop then Snitsky uses generic big guy move #5, choking Jericho on the mat. Edge gets the tag, going after Jericho with rights in the corner. He sends his elbow into Jericho's neck and backs him into the ropes with rights. Jericho reverses the irish whip but ducks too early, getting kicked in the face. Jericho charged but Edge drops him and tags in Snitsky. Snitsky attacks Orton on the apron, taking out Jericho's only life-line.

Randy Orton slides back in the ring and gets past the referee, Snitsky kicks him in the gut and the referee gets in the way of him sending Orton back out to the floor. Chris Jericho starts fighting to his feet as Triple H and Edge stomp on Orton outside the ring. Why is there always a screaming fan right where they do these things!? Anyway, Jericho is swinging the momentum and he drops Snitsky with a DDT. Chris Jericho crawls towards his corner, looking for a tag but Orton is by commentary as Edge sends him into the announce table. Maven walks down the ramp with the blood from the earlier attack still on his head and torso, the referee allows the tag, bringing him into the match and he goes after Snitsky with lefts and rights. He kicks Snitsky in the gut but his irish whip is reversed, he ducks the clothesline and hits Snitsky with a jumping forearm. Snitsky is bleeding above his eye as Triple H and Edge get in the ring, but each are knocked down by Maven. Maven completely fucks up sending Snitsky out of the ring and it looks awkward, thankfully Edge is ejected in a more graceful way over the top rope.

Maven back elbows Triple H and hits a bulldog from the top rope, but Snitsky has brought a steel chair into the ring. He brains Maven with it and gets himself disqualified. He hits Jericho and Orton with the chair on his way out since you can't be triple disqualified. Triple H crawls over to cover Maven and eliminates him, leaving it to Triple H and Edge vs. Randy Orton and Chris Jericho, who are both outside of the ring. Triple H rolls Jericho in and Edge covers him, but only gets 2. Edge gets two more nearfalls in quick succession. He complains to the referee as Jericho gets to his feet in the corner. Edge runs into a back elbow, but ducks a clothesline and Jericho runs into Triple H. Edge looks for a Spear but has to redirect to hit Chris Jericho and eliminates him. Randy Orton gets back in the ring and to his feet, realizing he's the last man on his team. Triple H and Edge double-team him in the corner before the referee remembers he should be getting one of them out.

Edge follows Orton across the ring and brings him to his feet, a back suplex gets Edge a nearfall. Edge tags Triple H in and holds Orton for some cheap shots. Orton drops to one knee and Triple H knocks him down with another shot. Triple H slows the pace down, but Orton blocks a right hand, getting in three of his own but Triple H cuts him off with a knee to the gut and a DDT for a nearfall. Triple H rehooks the leg and gets 2 again so he tags Edge back in. Edge with more right hands, then he brings Orton over to Triple H's corner, but Orton fights back with rights and elbows to both guys. Randy Orton reverses an irish whip and snaps off a powerslam. He's slow to get to his feet so he can't capitalize. Edge runs at Orton but gets side-stepped. Edge stops his momentum before he hits Triple H but an Orton dropkick sends them into each other anyway. Randy Orton rolls up Edge but only gets a close nearfall. He hits Edge with rights as they get to their feet but runs into a spinebuster by Triple H, who entered the ring illegally.

Triple H brings Randy Orton to his feet, Edge charges but Spears his partner as Orton dives out of the way. Edge turns around into an RKO and gets eliminated. Triple H counters the RKO with a low blow, but is too exhausted to follow up. He eventually drags Orton to his feet for a Pedigree but it's reversed into an RKO leaving Randy Orton as the Sole Survivor.

WINNERS: TEAM ORTON (Randy Orton Survives)

I'll start with a negative, Maven's entrance into the match served no purpose other than to protect Snitsky who is greener than Grinch shit and coming off a terrible story with Kane. He was then given the Booker T Wrestlemania 19 treatment with his elimination. On the plus side we didn't have to see Triple H and Orton stink up the joint with the final showdown. Randy Orton was able to almost look sympathetic in this match, Flair was taken out of the match early which was a good touch and the rest are mainly nitpicks I mentioned throughout. – As a match it's ** stars, but personally I'd rate it 3.25/10
