The winner of this match faces Mankind in the
quarterfinals. Jeff Jarrett has Debra McMichael in his corner, along
with his trustee guitar. Al Snow has Head with him, I wonder how
technical this match will end up? Head also has Mankind's Socko as a
headband. Al Snow immediately
begins to follow Debra McMichael around ringside, Jarrett follows but
Al Snow gets the first shots in. Al Snow uses the ring steps for a
somersault plancha into Jarrett before sending him into the ring.
Jeff
Jarrett VS. Al Snow (Tournament Round 1)
WWF
Survivor Series 1998 (15th
November 1998)
Al Snow hits a slingshot
legdrop as the match officially starts. He stupidly allows Jarrett to
his feet and tries to send him off the ropes, but Jeff Jarrett reverses it
and hot shots Al Snow onto the top rope. Jarrett irish whips Snow and
hits a back elbow. Al Snow smiles at the television time he's
getting. Jarrett works over Snow in the corner, but Al Snow reverses
positions and chops Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett reverses an irish whip and
Al Snow goes over to the apron in the corner. He ducks a clothesline
and hits one of his own to Jarrett, Al Snow uses the top rope for the
neckbreaker but misses a diving leg drop. Jeff Jarrett whips Snow
into the ropes and hits a dropkick for a nearfall. These matches have
a 10-minute time limit, as Jim Ross reminds us, leading to a sequence
of nearfalls. Al Snow clotheslines Jarrett down but gets sent into
the ropes, Jarrett attempts a spinebuster but Al Snow counters into a
DDT as JR mentions how awkward that spot can look sometimes. Al Snow
gets a nearfall.
Al Snow sends Jarrett into the
ropes but Jarrett baseball slides between his legs, Al Snow catches a
kick and spins Jarrett around into an atomic drop. Jarrett rebounds
off the ropes and they hit heads. Debra McMichael grabs Head from Al
Snow's corner and referee Tim Wight catches her, sending her back to
the floor. Meanwhile, Al Snow reaches Jarrett's guitar in the opposite
corner and Jarrett has used the distraction to get Head. Jarrett
strikes first but gets overconfident, running into a boot from Snow
into Head. Al Snow gets in a shot with Head and covers to win the
match.
WINNER: AL SNOW
It was enough as a match to get a rating, so far this
event is on the up! A simple story told in a short time and we got
the best result for that night. Any other night I'd have Jarrett go
over Al Snow in a different seed placing but the match did what it
was meant too. It gave the fans an early good guy win.– As a match, it's ** stars, but personally, I'd rate it 2/10
