Godfather comes out with his “Hos” and I forgot
all about his pre-match stuff on the mic. It was as subtle (and
probably more over) than Triple H's sledgehammer. Hearing JR say
“There's a lot of pimps in this house, King” on commentary is a
surreal experience. D'Lo and The Headbangers are dressed as pimps.
The Dudley Boyz recently moved from ECW and it will be
interesting seeing them team with Acolytes. Buh Buh Ray is still
doing his stuttering gimmick at this point, needing a slap across the
head from D-Von to finish his sentence. They also faced their
opponents back at Unforgiven. (which I reviewed here)
Godfather mocks the stutter and the Acolytes enter. The Acolytes and
Dudleyz have tense team talks. There's one referee in the ring and
one outside for this match.
APA
& Dudley Boyz VS. The Godfather, D'Lo Brown & Headbangers
WWF
Survivor Series 1999 (14th November 1999)
Buh Buh Ray Dudley and Mosh
from the Headbangers start the match, exchanging hammerlocks. Buh Buh
back elbows Mosh instead of countering and pulls his afro wig off. He
gets sent off the ropes from a headlock but knocks Mosh down with a
shoulder block. Dudley goes over and under Mosh, getting caught with
a hip toss and an arm drag. Mosh ducks a clothesline and back body
drops Dudley, who gets to his feet in the corner. Mosh meets him with
an overhand chop and sends him across the ring. Running backsplash
into Buh Buh Ray in the corner but it just pisses him off. Mosh turns
around into a pretty painful looking clothesline before D-Von Dudley gets
the tag. He comes in with right hands and sends Mosh into the ropes.
JR and Jerry Lawler are talking about tonight's main event. D-Von ducks early
and gets kicked, Mosh arm drags him down, keeping control of D-Von's
arm as Thrasher gets the tag. Thrasher just catches D-Von with a
clothesline in a double-team that probably sounded good, but didn't
come off well. Thrasher still gets a 2 count. Thrasher sends D-Von
into the ropes and a hip toss takes him down. Thrasher gets a
jawbreaker and I think this is the most offense I've seen the
Headbangers get. As I say that D-Von gets sent off the ropes and
ducks a clothesline, hitting one of his own.
He stomps at Thrasher then
Bradshaw tags himself in, literally beating the afro from Thrasher's
head. Thrasher back body drop's Bradshaw over and dropkicks him, but
Bradshaw starts beating on him again, sending him into the top
turnbuckle. Thrasher reverses an irish whip and sends Bradshaw into
the corner but charges into it chest first. Clothesline from Hell
ends Thrasher's night early. Mosh comes in, hitting Bradshaw with a
crossbody from the top, but Bradshaw throws him off the cover at 2.
Bradshaw boots Thrasher in the head and tags in Farooq. The Acolytes
send Mosh off the ropes and just let him run into them. Farooq covers
as Bradshaw flips the bird at Godfather, bringing him into the ring
and distracting the referee. Mosh kicks out at 2 thanks to the delay.
Mosh is sent into the corner but avoids Farooq's charge and hits him
with another arm drag and dropkick combination. Farooq cuts him off
with a knee to the gut and sends Mosh into Bradshaw's boot, tagging
his partner in. Somehow D-Von is legal in the ring, hitting Mosh with
right hands. He sends Mosh corner to corner but his charge hits the
turnbuckles. Mosh chokes D-Von across the middle rope, then sends him
across the ring but Buh Buh tags his brother's back. The Dudleyz hit
the 3D to eliminate Mosh.
D'Lo Brown enters hot, hitting
Buh Buh Ray with rights and sending him off the ropes into a forearm.
D'Lo slams him down and hits a leg drop for a nearfall. D'Lo backs
Buh Buh back into a corner, knocking Bradshaw from the apron with a
back elbow. Bradshaw grabs a chair from ringside and hits D'Lo across
the back then folds it over Buh Buh Ray's head. He gets disqualified
and D-Von enters the ring again, has he been working Lucha Libre
matches or something? He covers D'Lo but Farooq breaks it up. They
argue and Farooq lets D-Von cover but leg drops him across the back of
the neck. D-Von knocks Farooq out of the ring and follows, they brawl
from ringside all the way to the back leaving Buh Buh Ray on his own.
He covers D'Lo in the ring but D'Lo kicks out at 2. Buh Buh Ray tries
to suplex D'Lo Brown but D'Lo lands on his feet. He sends Buh Buh
into the ropes but Buh Buh counters and catches him with a sidewalk
slam. Buh Buh Ray gets another nearfall. He jabs at D'Lo but D'Lo
Brown ducks the clothesline and hits a sitout spinebuster for 2. D'Lo
Brown gets Buh Buh on the top turnbuckle but is caught with a sitout
powerbomb, leaving them both down. D'Lo Brown is able to kick out at
2 as Buh Buh covers. We see a replay as D'Lo Brown is sent into the
ropes, they both try a clothesline and end up on their asses. The
referee starts to count them both down.
D'Lo Brown slowly makes the
tag to Godfather, Buh Buh Ray sees no one in his corner and turns
around into clotheslines. Godfather slams Buh Buh Ray Dudley. He gets
a run-up for the leg drop and backs Buh Buh Ray Dudley into the
corner. Buh Buh Ray is sent across the ring and Godfather hits the Ho
Train, tagging in D'Lo Brown as Buh Buh falls, Lo Down frog splash
finishes the match.
WINNERS: Godfather & D'Lo Brown
The Dudley Boyz and APA causing each others'
eliminations made sense, but in hindsight JR blatantly asking at the
end made it seem more predictable. Godfather just got in and played
his hits, but D'Lo had a good run in the match against Buh Buh.– As
a match it's ** stars, but personally I'd rate it 3.5/10
After the match D'Lo Brown, Godfather and Tim White dance with the Ho's in the ring.
