2014 MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH

Bad News Barrett was supposed to be in this match, but he injured his shoulder on Smackdown the previous Friday. Jerry Lawler, John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Michael Cole are on commentary, taking us to pre-recorded promos with the remaining participants claiming they'll win. Seth Rollins enters first, followed by RVD who has won 50% of the Money in the Bank matches he's been in. Jack Swagger follows, another former winner in 2010 with Zeb Coulter by his side. 2012 Money in the Bank winner Dolph Ziggler is next, all three of these winners had unfortunate reigns. Kofi Kingston enters to break the pattern. He's been in 5 of these matches but never won. Dean Ambrose is the final man to make his way to the ring.

Swagger picks him up and tries to dump him outside but Kingston holds on. Kingston shoulder barges RVD through the ropes and hits a springboard overhand chop. Kofi Kingston retrieves a ladder but Jack Swagger picks up the other end, sending the ladder into Kingston's ribs. Kingston gets back in the ring, climbing the ladder and dropping down onto RVD with an ax handle! Kingston drops Swagger with a standing dropkick. Kingston hits a Penalty Kick, leaving Swagger on a ladder. Kofi Kingston hits a twisting Boom Drop to Swagger. Kofi Kingston rams Swagger out of the ring with a ladder then sets it up under the briefcase. He misses the sweet spot even though a spotlight guides him, Dean Ambrose is back in the ring and he sends the ladder over, Kingston balances on the top rope and dives into the crowd outside! Ziggler, RVD, and Kingston try to scramble up the other side as Swagger and Ambrose get taken out momentarily. Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler end up at the top of the ladder but Swagger tries to keep them from the briefcase. Dean Ambrose sends Swagger to the floor with a clothesline but suffers the same fate thanks to Ziggler and Kingston. They race back up the ladder and exchange right hands but bring each other down to the mat by their hair. They continue the slugfest on the floor of the ring as Seth Rollins hits them both in the skull with a ladder! RVD is in the ring and he dropkicks the ladder into Rollins. Rollins goes back into the corner as RVD tries to rearrange the furniture. He drops Seth with clotheslines and a superkick. Rollins is sent into the corner and RVD brings him back out with a monkey flip that was more luck than skill. Rob Van Dam puts a ladder in the corner and sends Rollins into it. RVD hits a spinning heel kick and the ladder follows Rollins as he stumbles out of the corner. RVD places the ladder on the bottom rope in the corner and slams Rollins onto it to E-C-Dub chants. RVD hits a Rolling Thunder on the ladder!

Dean Ambrose charges at RVD but gets sent over to the apron, RVD hits a springboard kick to Ambrose knocking him to the floor. RVD hits Swagger with a rolling heel kick and a Five Star Frog Splash sending him out of the ring. RVD climbs a ladder but Kofi Kingston climbs the other side as he gets to the top. Jack Swagger is dragged from the ladder by Ambrose, who unleashes headbutts on Rollins at the top. DEAN AMBROSE HITS THE SUPERPLEX ON ROLLINS!!

Dean Ambrose flipped back on the landing, making that look brutally awesome. Dean Ambrose uses his insanity to get to his feet (it's the only explanation, really) and has a ladder but Ziggler dropkicks it into him. Jack Swagger catapults Ziggler into the ladder into Ambrose, sending them out of the ring. Kofi Kingston is back in the ring, met with an elbow by Swagger. Jack Swagger drops a ladder onto Kingston and hits the Vader Bomb (as a side note, not long previous to this going out, Leon White, known as Vader in the wrestling world, passed away. Tribures go out to his family.) that wasn't the brightest idea by Swagger, with his ribs taking a punishment from the ladder. Rollins tries to cover up but Ambrose is able to send him off the ladder as the fans cheer for Ambrose to win it. Jack Swagger brings Ambrose back down to the ring but Ambrose counters a slam with a DDT!

Seth Rollins has to use the ladder to get to his feet before using his feet to get up the ladder. Dean Ambrose looks like his shoulder was hurt somehow. He runs into the ladder sending Rollins into the ropes on his way down. The referee and doctor check on Dean Ambrose and tell him not to continue, the fans boo the doctors and staff for doing their jobs as Ambrose leaves for the back. Seth Rollins is alone in the ring so he positions the ladder and climbs. He gets his fingertips on the briefcase but RVD cuts him off. They fight at the top of the ladder as Kofi Kingston brings another ladder into play, bridging it between the ladder in the ring and the top rope. Kofi walks across the bridge and joins the scuffle. RVD gets caught in the ladder and falls to the mat, doctors check on him and at this rate someone's going to win by default. Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston battle at the top of the ladder. KOFI KINGSTON BACKDROPS ROLLINS ONTO THE LADDER BRIDGE! That is not a secure surface, Rollins bounced that landing twice. Dolph Ziggler sneaks back in the ring to stop Kofi winning the match. Dean Ambrose dumps Rollins out of the ring and climbs the ladder. HERE'S KANE! Ambrose fights Kane off from the ladder but gets caught with a chokeslam to the mat. Kane hits a tombstone just to put his point across. Kane holds the ladder for Seth Rollins to grab the briefcase and the win.

WINNER: SETH ROLLINS (2014 Money in the Bank winner)

The interesting part to me for these matches is guessing which part each man will play. Kofi was the high-flyer with Ambrose as the hardcore risk-taker. Swagger was the de facto power guy with Ziggler bringing the match together. Rob Van Dam was there for his signature stuff and to add another veteran with main event presence to the match. Rollins and Ambrose were the main story here, when Ambrose went out you knew he'd be there to try and cost Seth the match, which the fans clearly wanted. The Authority over everyone, however, means that Kane assisted Rollins to victory. Everyone looked good even though you could tell where WWE's attentions were. – WORKRATE: 2.75/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3.5/5 OVERALL 6.25/10

The Authority come out to the ramp to celebrate with Seth Rollins.
