MIL MUERTES VS. DRAGO

The opening video shows Drago's hard-fought victory over King Cuerno last week before recapping Chavo Guerrero Jr going psycho and Johnny Mundo's problems with owner Dario Cueto, kind of involving Prince Puma, no matter how much Konnan doesn't like it. Speaking of Konnan and Cueto, they're in the Bossman's office. There's tension over Prince Puma getting attacked last week, so much so that Konnan doesn't want a drink. Cueto puts the responsibility on Big Ryck, so Konnan proposes a Boyle Heights Street Fight tonight between Ryck and Puma, to which Cueto agrees. Konnan takes the drink after all before leaving. Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to The Temple on commentary before we jump into the action. Mil Muertes enters with Catrina, as Striker says he gives off an eerie aura. He's getting his first real match tonight, facing Drago.

MATCH 1: MIL MUERTES VS. DRAGO

Muertes attacks Drago from behind and stomps him on the ground. The referee asks him to please maybe pause, and he does before bringing Drago to his feet. Muertes chops Drago against the ropes and hits him with a right hand, Drago is sent across the ring but he ducks a clothesline. Drago rolls over Muertes' back and blocks a right and a left, a kick to the chest sends Drago into the corner but he escapes to the apron. Drago hits a corkscrew crossbody from the top rope but Mertes throws him off after 1. Muertes doesn't budge on a shoulder tackle before he knocks Drago down with a fist to the face. Drago runs into a powerslam and lands on his neck before Muertes mounts him for more right hands. Catrina cheers Muertes on at ringside as he stomps on Drago and dumps him out to the floor. We see King Cuerno on top of Dario Cueto's office watching the match as Muertes follows Drago to ringside, bouncing his head off the commentary and timekeepers' tables before throwing him back inside. Drago is draped over the middle rope and Catrina gets a cheap shot in behind the referee's back. Mil Muertes lifts Drago on his shoulder and hits a running powerslam for a nearfall.

Matt Striker likens Cuerno to a predator on the National Geographical channel, stalking his prey. Muertes hits a right hand on Drago and sends him corner to corner. Drago gets squashed in the corner with a running shoulder barge, and Muertes looks pleased with himself. He runs into a superkick from Drago, stunning him. Drago hits a combination of right hands and kicks to Muertes' hamstring before blocking a kick, Drago sweeps Mertes' leg and quickly covers for a nearfall. Muertes staggers from a running shoulder block and gets planted with a springboard DDT, Drago covers again but still only gets 2. Drago makes his way to the top rope, diving into a spear by Muertes! Muertes brings Drago to his feet as King Cuerno watches on. Cuerno sees how to win a match against Drago as Muertes ends it with the Flatliner.

WINNER: MIL MUERTES

Another week, another exhibition match for Muertes. Drago got some good offence in and was able to convince me he could win this at times. It was clearly a vehicle to carry on the King Cuerno/Drago story and it got Muertes a win over another person quickly becoming a name in Lucha Underground. WORKRATE: 2.5/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3/5 OVERALL: 5.5/10

After the match, Catrina gives Drago the Lick of Death and leaves with Muertes. King Cuerno stalks down to the ring and lays Drago out with what is known to TNA fans as Chris Sabin's Futureshock in the middle of the ring. We see a sweet video hyping Johnny Mundo then see Dario Cueto backstage. He congratulates Muertes on his victory. Catrina warns Cueto he can't keep darkness locked up forever.
