BIG RYCK VS. JOHNNY MUNDO

When I said I would bookmark your week I didn't intend for this... But here we are with Lucha Underground on a Sunday. Vampiro and Matt Striker on the headsets for this match.

Konnan meets Prince Puma, who is using terrible form on hanging leg raises in a Captain's Chair. Konnan tells Puma not to get involved in the main event. Puma barely responds, shrugging off Konnan asking if he's listening. Konnan advises him to. As we get back to the ring Big Ryck is ready for our main event, besides the cigar hanging from his jaw, of course. Johnny Mundo makes his entrance and faces off with Ryck as Matt Striker calls Ryck a cross between Suge Knight and Kimbo Slice, he's just a straight up fighter. As they face off I picture this as a match for the WWECW Championship back in 2009 in a perfect world.

MATCH 4: BIG RYCK VS. JOHNNY MUNDO

Ryck grabs Mundo by the throat but catches a swift back elbow to the face. Mundo gets in some shots but Ryck easily shoves him across the ring. Mundo tries a stick and move tactic with leg kicks and scrambles over Big Ryck for a side headlock. Ryck uses his power advantage to send Mundo into the ropes. They collide in the middle of the ring and Mundo staggers back, a running shoulder block from Ryck knocks Mundo down. Ryck sends Mundo into the corner with ease, but Mundo is quick to escape to the apron to avoid a charge, Mundo slides under the bottom rope and hits an enziguri to daze Ryck in the corner. Mundo runs at Ryck with a running knee and hits a pair more in a Muay Thai clinch but Ryck launches him into a corner with ease, breaking his spine with a running avalanche. Ryck beats Mundo down in the corner with clubbing blows. Big Ryck throws Mundo across the ring but MUNDO LANDS ON HIS FEET!

Mundo forces Ryck into the corner, bombarding him with right hands, first to the midsection, then his head. Mundo mounts the middle rope to get a better angle and the referee has to start counting. Matt Striker mentions Ryck being down on one knee is a minor victory It's not one that lasts long as Ryck sends Mundo into the middle turnbuckle. Ryck chokes Mundo with his boot before bringing Mundo to his feet. Ryck clubs Mundo over the back sending him down to the mat again which Vampiro likens to being hit with a baseball bat. Ryck scoops Mundo up and slams him to the mat again and covers for a nearfall. Ryck keeps Mundo on the mat with a chinlock, but Mundo kicks his way free, getting back to his feet with rights to the midsection. Mundo ducks a clothesline going back to body shots right away. Ryck shoves Mundo into the ropes and Mundo slides under him before a dropkick staggers Ryck into the corner. Mundo finally gets Ryck off his feet with a Moonlight Drive! 1, 2, 2.5, Ryck throws Mundo off, but he looks dazed.

A dazed Ryck still has a mean punch though and a few connect with Mundo, as does a knee. Mundo elbows out of a flatliner attempt and knocks Big Ryck down with a springboard kick. Ryck still kicks out before 3 and we cut to Prince Puma in the back. He's attacked by Cortez Castro and Mr Cisco, who make it out to the ring in time to stop Mundo hitting the End of Worlds and cause the disqualification.

WINNER: JOHNNY MUNDO

This was a really good way to finish out a packed show. (4 matches in an hour makes a pretty crowded timeslot) and the non-finish worked, keeping both guys from eating a loss. From the match, you wouldn't say Ryck needed the assistance, but he used the resources. He also had a second job tonight to put Mundo in hospital. That probably paid more so that will have been his first priority. Cisco and Castro made sure to take out Mundo's support too just in case. WORKRATE: 3.25/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 4/5 OVERALL: 7.25/10

After the match, Mundo spears Castro to the mat and hits him with right hands. Cisco gets involved but he's taken down with a standing Spanish Fly, but Mundo turns around and his head gets knocked off with a lariat by Ryck! Castro and Cisco lay into Mundo, then Ryck sends them to retrieve a table from under the ring whilst he holds Mundo in place as it's placed dead-centre.Mr Cisco and Castro send Mundo into a chokeslam through the table and Cueto's henchmen stand tall to end the show.

EPISODE 4 SUMMARY: This show was another decent watch in a string of them. Lucha Underground has hit the ground running. A lot of questions for next week but in a good way. Who was in that cell? Will we meet them next week? Who will get their hands on Chavo or get him under control? How will the Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo and Konnan situation play out? Who else will show up at The Temple? It's keeping me watching. OVERALL 8.6/10
