We return to an introduction to King Cuerno. Drago is already in the ring for the match. Vampiro goes over “Cuerno” meaning horn in Spanish, so King Cuerno is a hunter and he seems to take trophies. For those that don't know King Cuerno is more commonly known as El Hijo del Fantasma. The aforementioned Vampiro and Matt Striker grace us with commentary as usual.
MATCH 3: KING CUERNO VS. DRAGO
Drago and King Cuerno slither to each other before locking up, Cuerno backs Drago into the ropes but the referee makes him break cleanly. Drago charges but is sent to the mat, he kips back up using Cuerno's arm and snapmares him down to the mat. Cuerno catches Drago with a kick to the gut and a clubbing blow. Drago is brought back to his feet and he fights back with a pair of right hands. Cuerno blocks a third and it takes just one of his to knock Drago into the ropes. Drago charges and ducks a clothesline but can't take Cuerno over with a flying headscissors. Now THAT we don't see often, and Matt Striker gets it right this time. Drago tries to roll Cuerno up in a magistral cradle but is shoved off, he comes back into a clothesline by Cuerno. King Cuerno is methodical in this match, knocking Drago into the corner with a dropkick and keeping him there with right hands. Drago is sent across the ring but he gets both boots up to Cuerno's jaw. Cuerno charges into a basement dropkick sending him face first into the middle turnbuckle as Matt Striker resembles Drago to The Great Muta back when he wore masks.
King Cuerno catches Drago on the charge and perches him on the top turnbuckle. Drago jumps onto Cuerno's shoulders hitting a classic Lucha Libre style headscissors, but Cuerno slams him face first into the mat on a running attempt. Cuerno stands over Drago and grinds the laces of his wrist gear over Drago's face. Drago is brought to his feet and fights back with leg kicks and a superkick to the midsection, Drago runs off the ropes but Cuerno throws the referee down. Drago starts again, jumping off the referee's back to send Cuerno out of the ring with a flying headscissors. The referee uses his head and gets out of the way as Drago flies over the top rope to knock Cuerno down on the floor with a running suicide Swanton. Drago takes a breather and softens Cuerno up with a right hand before throwing him back in the ring. Drago poses on the apron but a standing enziguri knocks him back down to the floor of The Temple. King Cuerno uses the ring ropes to achieve maximum speed before killing Drago with a tope through the ropes!
King Cuerno puts Drago against the ring, hitting him with an overhand chop. Vampiro clarifies that in Lucha Libre that's more of an insult, making another Luchadore your bitch. Cuerno effortlessly rolls Drago in the ring before positioning him for a DDT. He poses for the crowd but the seconds he takes allows Drago to spring back off the middle rope with an arm drag. Drago rolls through, and he has Cuerno's shoulders down on the mat. 1, 2 3!
I liked how this match was different to most here at The Temple have been so far. Drago fought hard for his win and King Cuerno was able to look like a monster. Drago went out there with something to prove to Cueto and himself, this win did just that. Lucha Underground carries on making all the main players (and that number is rising weekly) look amazing without sacrificing anyone else. WORKRATE: 3/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 2.5/5 OVERALL: 5.5/10
Drago gets the fuck outta Dodge to celebrate his victory as the ring ropes become an invisible wall keeping King Cuerno in the ring until Drago's in the back.
