If my sums are correct this will make my count 179/250. Lawrence Taylor is a one-and-done and Bam Bam Bigelow is someone that I kept coming close to reviewing but just never have. He was also widely regarded as one of, if not the best, big men in the 1980's-1990's in both America and Japan. After this match, I'll be giving WWF/WWE/WCW/ECW a rest for a while. This all started at the Royal Rumble. Lawrence Taylor was in the crowd and he took it upon himself to shove Bam Bam Bigelow.Handling commentary for this special main event is Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler. There's some commotion between NFL players and Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Corporation before Bam Bam enters. Pat Patterson is the guest referee and it looks like it's Lumberjack rules. Pat Patterson goes over the rules for a while, saving LT's energy. Bam Bam Bigelow shoves Taylor, and Patterson keeps explaining the rules to Bam Bam!
BAM BAM BIGELOW VS. LAWRENCE TAYLOR
WWF Wrestlemania 11 (2nd April 1995)
Patterson asks for a hand shake but Taylor slaps the taste out of Bigelow's mouth instead. Taylor knocks Bigelow down with a clothesline and sends him into the ropes. Bigelow gets sent over the top rope. Bigelow is happy to take a breather amongst the Million Dollar Corporation before trying to sneak up on Taylor across the ring. Even typing that made me laugh. Taylor sees Bigelow charging and moves out of the way, hitting a bulldog to take Bigelow down. Lawrence Taylor stays on Bigelow with forearms before sending him back out with a hip toss. This time Lawrence Taylor follows Bigelow out and faces off with the whole Corporation. There's a shoving match and the NFL players won't let their boy be outnumbered. Bigelow slides back in the ring and jumps Taylor as he follows. Lawrence Taylor is fighting to his feet, really taking it to Bam Bam. Bam Bam puts a stop to that with a swift kick to the ribs.
Bigelow follows Taylor over to the corner for more kicks before Patterson backs Bigelow away. Taylor tries fighting out of the corner but Bigelow stays on him with rakes to the face and chokes him on the mat with his boot. Bigelow slams Taylor to the mat but misses a falling headbutt. Lawrence Taylor knocks Bigelow down with a lunging forearm but Bigelow is able to catch Taylor and drives him into the turnbuckles. Lawrence Taylor tries to kick his way out but Bam Bam sends him back into the corner. Bigelow chokes Taylor over the middle rope. Taylor is using Bam Bam Bigelow just to stay on his feet, and he's somehow able to get Bigelow into the corner. Bigelow rakes at Taylor's eyes then knocks him down with a right hand whilst he was still blinded. Bigelow slowly turns Taylor over for a boston crab. Bigelow drops one leg, isolating the other. Lawrence Taylor makes an effort to crawl to the ropes but Bigelow drags him back before leaning back down on the leg. After an eternity Taylor breaks the hold.
Lawrence Taylor hits Bigelow but loses his balance on one leg. Bigelow takes advantage grabbing a side headlock and walking Taylor around the ring. TAYLOR HITS A BACK SUPLEX! Bam Bam is still the first to his feet, and he knocks Taylor down with an ax handle to the back. Bigelow hits three falling headbutts and an elbow drop before climbing to the top rope. Bigelow spins in the air on a splash, landing on his knee. He rolls off the cover at 1, before getting back to Taylor for a nearfall. Lawrence Taylor and Bam Bam Bigelow use each other to stand, and Lawrence Taylor hits what I'll kindly call a modified jackknife. Taylor covers but Bigelow kicks out at 2 1/2. Bigelow hits a standing enziguri! One fluid movement, sending Taylor to the mat for more falling headbutts. The NFL players buy Taylor some time, blocking Bigelow from going to the top rope. Bigelow clears a path and hits a diving headbutt. Bam Bam Bigelow covers but still only gets 2. Bigelow tries to convince everyone including himself that it was actually three. Lawrence Taylor uses that time to try and catch a breather and he sends Bigelow into the corner with a flurry of strikes. He knocks Bigelow down with running forearms and climbs to the middle rope. He hits a flying forearm and covers Bam Bam Bigelow for the win.
WINNER: LAWRENCE TAYLOR
The match was kept very simple, and it was told that Lawrence Taylor had been training with WWF Champion Diesel. Bam Bam gave Taylor a hell of a lot in this match and what Lawrence Taylor did attempt in wrestling was very good on the whole. Bam Bam Bigelow having to pull out every trick he had to keep Taylor down was a nice story to tell and the crowd went insane when Taylor was working over Bam Bam. Not the greatest Wrestlemania main event but definitely an underappreciated one, – WORKRATE: 2/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 2.5/5 OVERALL 4.5/10
