There's a video package for Smackdown's first Pay-Per-View since the brand split, Backlash 11th September before going to Smackdown's announce team of John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Mauro Ranallo and David Otunga. Dean Ambrose won the Money in the Bank briefcase at the namesake Pay-Per-View last month, cashing in his contract that night to win the WWE World Championship. When the 2016 brand split came around Dean Ambrose was Smackdown's first pick, taking the championship over with him. Dolph Ziggler won a 6-pack challenge to earn this shot, and in the month since they've tried to force an intense feud. Dolph Ziggler feels underutilized, he puts on the best matches and never gets the credit he deserves so he's out to prove himself in this match. Dean Ambrose has scratched and clawed his way to the WWE World Championship and he doesn't want to give the belt up just yet. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, co-General Managers of Smackdown are in the ring to greet both men and have to help the referee separate them for the introductions.

WINNER: DEAN AMBROSE (STILL WWE WORLD CHAMPION)
They tried to make this match more personal than it had to be for the big show. This could have been fine if it was just Ziggler wanting to prove himself against the champion and have a respectful, hard-hitting match, they started with headlock takedowns too, showing how not personal it was literally seconds after Shane and Bryan pull them apart. It was inconsistent as a story, but the match was fine. Both men got to look pretty good, Ziggler got some awesome moments, but Dean Ambrose didn't look like he didn't deserve the belt. I'm really not sure on this rating, to be honest. – WORKRATE: 2.5/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 1.25/5 OVERALL 3.75/10
