THE ACOLYTES VS. THE DUDLEY BOYZ
WWF Unforgiven (26th September 1999)

Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler are at the commentary table, and this was The Dudley Boyz WWF Pay-Per-View debut. They enter first and we see Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young being helped backstage, which was something relating to Jeff Jarrett's battle against women in wrestling at this point. The Dudleys cut a promo on the Acolytes and Bubba's doing the stuttering gimmick still at this point.

All four men meet near ringside as The Acolytes take it straight to the Dudleys as they enter. Farooq starts with Bubba, beating him down in the corner and sending him across the ring. Lawler says the Acolytes will send the Dudleys back to Extremely Crappy Wrestling, whilst JR puts over the Dudleys as former tag team champions in the promotion. Bubba reverses an irish whip and hits a splash in the corner. Bubba hits a suplex and a scoop slam on Farooq but a senton eats knees. Farooq gets a quick tag to Bradshaw and they send Bubba across the ring, Bubba gets lifted and left to freefall, but it didn't look like they got it quite right, Bradshaw sends Bubba across the ring and hits a big boot, then an elbow drop but only gets a nearfall. Bradshaw sends Bubba into the corner, then decides he likes the view better from the other side so he sends Bubba across the ring again. Bubba meets Bradshaw with a boot and fights out of the corner. Bubba hits a Scoop slam and a senton from the second rope. Bubba covers for two and Farooq just looks insulted.

Bubba goes up for another senton but Farooq cuts him off, giving Bradshaw time to climb and meet Bubba, D-Von not able to save his half-brother from a superplex but he does break up the pin cover. JR says both these teams will be watching the New Age Outlaws defend their newly won WWF Tag Team Championships against Edge & Christian later if they can, and Lawler's talking about old lady problems... Yay for Attitude? Bradshaw charges Bubba out of the ring through the ropes, but Bubba blocks his head from going into the barricade, Bubba hits a pair of overhand chops but gets sent into the ring steps. Bradshaw rolls Bubba back in the ring and covers, but Bubba rolls a shoulder up. Farooq says "ECW that" audibly, and Bubba ducks a Clothesline from Hell before catching Bradshaw with a belly to belly for a nearfall. Bubba finally tags out to D-Von who attacks Bradshaw with right hands. Bradshaw reverse the irish whip but D-Von ducks the boot and hits a flying shoulder block, D-Von keeps the pace up with a swinging neckbreaker and covers but Bradshaw kicks out at 2.

Bradshaw shrugs off D-Von's right hands getting to his feet and reverses an irish whip, Bradshaw catches a running crossbody, slinging him across the ring with a Fallaway Slam before tagging out to Farooq, Farooq covers for a nearfall, he sends D-Von across the ring for a scoop powerslam and another nearfall. D-Von escapes the Dominator and hits a DDT. Both men crawl to their corners, Farooq gets the tag and Bradshaw, who cuts D-Von off. Bradshaw slams D-Von Dudley to the mat but misses the elbow drop, allowing D-Von to get the tag to Bubba Ray. Bubba hits a back suplex as D-Von connects with a neckbreaker, JR calls it the 3-D. Bubba covers, Farooq attacks D-Von sending him out the ring and follows, leaving Bradshaw to kick out at 2. JR says Bubba wasn't able to get all of the pin because he was distracted by Farooq and D-Von Dudley. D-Von reverses an irish whip sending Farooq into the ring steps and Bubba calls for his assistance. D-Von climbs to the top turnbuckle and Bubba powerbombs Bradshaw. D-Von hits a splash and covers, the referee counts since he has a 5-second memory and JR questions D-Von being the legal man. Bubba's even stood right behind D-Von as we see him shout at the referee as Bradshaw gets his shoulder up at 2. The Attitude Era, where any thinking is overthinking!

D-Von climbs to the top rope, but Farooq shakes it, crotching him. Bubba goes after Farooq but Bradshaw has quickly caught up with D-Von and he hits a back superplex. Farooq hits Bubba's head on the ring steps, but Bubba blocks a second attempt and simply does the same back to Farooq. Bradshaw covers D-Von in the ring, getting a nearfall. Lawler says if Bubba was suplexed like that he might not stutter anymore because he's a comedic genius... Bubba bulldogs Bradshaw allowing D-Von to cover, Farooq makes a beeline for Bubba Ray instead of breaking it up and Bradshaw barely kicks out this time. D-Von blindsides Farooq and sends him across the ring, the Dudleyz hit what we all know as a 3-D, but Bradshaw knocks Bubba down with a stiff clothesline. Jerry Lawler's noticed someone, and it's someone from ECW, JR clarifies it's Stevie Richards as the man himself gets in the ring. Stevie hits D-Von with a loud superkick and Farooq covers, JR mentions Stevie's dressed as an Acolyte. 1, 2, 3.

WINNERS: THE ACOLYTES

Wow, what a welcoming party for the Dudley Boyz, by all accounts at this time the Acolytes were pretty stiff on newbies from other companies, but even with upholding that tradition they gave the Dudley Boyz a lot during the match. They were protected by Stevie Richards' interference causing the loss and were going toe to toe with the Acolytes but when the Acolytes were in control the crowd loved the Dudleyz getting an ass kicking. – Rating: 4.7/10
