NXT Live Specials: From the Beginning - Camacho vs. Adam Rose

We move on to NXT: TakeOver, a name that would stick for the rest of the Live Specials. Strangely appropriate since NXT would basically take over from the main roster in getting customers to pay money for the Network. it's always bittersweet when a feeder promotion has such a high standard of quality.

MATCH 1: CAMACHO VS. ADAM ROSE
Camacho doesn't like Adam Rose's carefree attitude. He's playing the serious, Latino, intimidating gangster at this point. “party pooper” chants by the crowd to Camacho start this one off, and Camacho's attacked Rosebuds over the last couple of months. Camacho goes to lock up but Adam Rose dodges it and dances. Camacho tells the referee that it's not a game, and Adam Rose is having a good time. They circle and this time Camacho gets a waistlock on Rose, and he shifts into a full nelson. Rose wiggles his hips a bit too close for Camacho's liking, causing Camacho to break the hold. Rose dances in the corner and Camacho charges him with a clothesline, but Rose ducks it. Rose jumps into Camacho's arms but Camacho throws him off into the ropes. Hard forearm by Camacho ends the party and he takes a stomping to Rose.

Camacho brings Rose to his feet and tells the crowd to “party pooper this” before hitting Rose with a double underhook suplex for a nearfall. Camacho gets a single arm necktie on Rose and grasps his hands around Rose's arm. The crowd helps Rose get to his feet and escape with an arm drag. Camacho is quickly back to his feet though and he hits Rose with a boot. Right hand by Camacho fires Adam Rose up, so he kicks him again, but just as Rose gets to his feet a running big boot sends him back down to the mat. Camacho gets another nearfall, Camacho doesn't give Rose a second to breathe as he hits clubbing blows to Rose's chest before going back to the single arm necktie. “Party time” chants by the crowd help get Rose back up to his feet, but a knee and clubbing blow to the back from Camacho stop the momentum.

Camacho does the Eddie Guerrero shimmy, being from Mexico and everything he has to reference Eddie at least once a year. It's in his contract. Fact. Maybe.... I just made it up. Moving on. Camacho gets awesome elevation on the leg drop but Adam Rose kicks out at one. Camacho decides he'll try being Samoan too, and headbutts Rose. Camacho sends Rose across the ring but ducks too soon. Adam Rose makes a comeback, kicking Camacho's chest and taking a rest in the corner, Camacho charges but Rose moves out of the way, so Camacho hits the corner. Rose blocks a clothesline and hits a combination of punches, sending Camacho to the mat. Camacho reverses the irish whip with a kick to the gut, but Rose catches him with a spinebuster. Camacho gets back to his feet in the corner and Adam Rose hits a running back elbow and follows up with a side kick, sending Camacho down. Adam Rose crosses the ring and hits a bronco buster, which he calls the “Choo Choo Buster” which leads into a Party Foul (a snapmare driver) for the win.

This was one hell of a way to kick off the TakeOver show. It's not at the quality of Cesaro vs. Zayn, but it wasn't meant to be. It was a short energetic match where the crowd had fun. Both guys got to look strong, making Rose's victory that much better, and he was over like crazy during this period. – Rating: 5.7/10
