MATCH 5: BO DALLAS © VS. ADRIAN NEVILLE (LADDER MATCH – NXT CHAMPIONSHIP)

Bo looks up at the belt, then glances out the ladders. His vision darts between the two but Neville notices and catches Dallas before he can scramble out of the ring. Spin kick by Neville gets us started and a kick to Bo's chest follows. Bo staggers back and Neville knees him in the gut before forcing him into the corner. Bo Dallas reverses an irish whip attempt but Neville floats over and athletically moves across the ring. Dallas isn't far behind but Neville still gets a boot up. Neville jumps up to the middle rope and hits a front missile dropkick, before climbing up to the top, he almost trips on the top rope but saves it. Dallas starts rolling towards the ladders and away from Neville so Neville jumps down to the canvas and closes the gap. Neville grabs Dallas as he gets out to the apron, but Neville has to stand on the bottom rope to reach. Dallas grabs at Neville's ankle, sending him crashing to the mat. Dallas decides to continue the punishment instead of getting a ladder and mounts Neville before hitting some rights. The referee backs him off, so he stomps at Neville's head instead. Neville gets to his feet but still doesn't see Dallas before he can take a couple of right hands. Neville stumbles back into the corner and Dallas hits a back elbow, again focusing on the head of Neville. Dallas holds Neville up in the corner, but Neville's out on his feet. Dallas brings a groggy Neville away from the ropes and hits another back elbow to the jaw. Dallas keeps hold of Neville's wrist and hits a series of these back elbows, before turning Neville inside out with a clothesline.
William Regal says that whilst Neville will do anything and put his body through anything to win, Dallas is conniving and he'll use that to his advantage. Dallas takes in the fans' reactions for a moment as he plans his next move. He brings Neville up to his feet and looks to be dumping him over the top with an atomic drop. Instead, he seats Neville on the top rope and hooks his ankle under the middle one, trapping his opponent upside down. Dallas uses this time to grab a ladder from near the entrance way, but gets it dropkicked into his chest when he places it on the apron! Neville hits a springboard crossbody and follows up with mounted rights to the champ. William Regal explains a Geordie being someone from Newcastle. Neville gets the ladder in the ring and climbs on the apron, but Dallas is able to grab his feet and keep him there long enough to Dallas to get to his feet. Dallas brings Neville back down to the floor and sends him back first into the steel steps. Both men are down, but Dallas is first to his feet. He gets to ringside and Neville leaps and holds on to Dallas' ankle. Dallas stomps away at Neville and releases his grip. Dallas brings Neville up to his feet and sends his head into the apron. Dallas traps Neville's hand under the ring curtain before hitting more elbows to Neville's skull. Dallas grabs another ladder from beside the ramp and gets a good angle. He charges, but Neville moves! Dallas releases the ladder and sends it sliding across the ring! Dallas able to turn around quickly though and he sets up his double underhook DDT but Neville lifts him overhead, causing Dallas to land on the ramp. Regal explains that not only does the steel make the ramp hurt more, but because you're not landing on a flat surface your hips also over rotate.
In this time Neville's set one of the ladders up in the middle of the ring, and he starts to slowly climb up. OUT OF NOWHERE COMES DALLAS! He launches a ladder at Neville causing him to fall to the mat and the standing ladder to fall. Dallas sees an opening and is able to quickly get to his feet. He grabs a ladder and pushes it onto Neville's ribcage repeatedly. Dallas is bored with that ladder so he throws it away. They nicely set up for the next spot with it looking like Neville was trying to escape a stalking Dallas as he was getting hit in the midsection, and Dallas set up the ladder over Neville, pinning him down. Dallas climbs up the ladder and he can almost reach the belt, but Neville starts pushing the ladder from below. Neville using his feet too now and he topples the ladder, with Bo Dallas barely landing inside the ring, but he gets hit in the head with the freefalling ladder to follow. Bo Dallas starts to favour his left knee, he seemed to land on that first. Neville now sets the ladder back up, booting Dallas en route just for good measure. Neville gets his fingertips to the championship but offscreen Dallas pushes the ladder over, sending Neville tumbling to the mat this time. Dallas is up on his feet first and intelligently he grabs the ladder nearest to Neville. Neville grabs the same ladder though and that begins a tug of war. Unfortunately for Neville he grabbed the bottom meaning he gets wedged in the corner with it.
Bo Dallas with an advantage here, and he sets a ladder up between the top and middle turnbuckles. He tries to catapult Neville into it but Neville grabs the bottom rope. Dallas can't release Neville's grip on the ropes, and Neville climbs across and up, holding on to the bottom rope. Bo Dallas tries the alley-oop but Neville LANDS ON HIS FEET! Neville ducks a clothesline and hits a ladder assisted tornado DDT! Neville sets the ladder back up under the championship. Neville climbs, but he notices Dallas get to his feet and jumps down to safety. Both men trying to push the ladder over, until Neville runs under the ladder and pushes Dallas into the ropes. Dallas rebounds though and collides with Neville, sending him into the ladder! The ladder falls and hits Neville on the head. Referees check on each man from outside the ring due to the damage to their head and both continue. Dallas slowly crawls towards Neville. Dallas slowly brings Neville to his feet as he gets up himself and sends the challenger into the corner. Running clothesline by Dallas his hit by a series of standing variations in the corner. Dallas takes a wander out of the corner and hits another running clothesline sending Neville down to the mat. Dallas grabs a handful of hair, keeping Neville at bay. Dallas wants the Bo-Dog on the ladder, but Neville sends him into the corner, Dallas went face first into the ladder in the corner! Neville slowly gets to his feet with Regal cheering his countryman on. Including the awesome quote “Come on Adrian! Pick the bloody ladder up, son!”
Neville gets the ladder set up but Dallas has made his way to the ropes. Neville climbs the ladder but Dallas has somehow closed the gap and meets him near the top. Dallas hits a forearm, and uses Neville's own arm to send him into the ladder, Dallas brings Neville down to the mat and sends him out of the ring. Neville lands on the apron... Neville blocks a clothesline and hits a kick to the jaw before advancing to the corner, focused on the ladder. Neville climbs to the top rope, wanting to seal the deal with the Red Arrow, but Dallas again finds the energy to get to his feet, and he sends Neville down to the floor! Neville's back clipped the apron on the way down... Bo Dallas stares at Neville and begins to realise how much closer to the championship he is, and he turns himself around and crawls to the ladder. Dallas slowly climbs but Neville SPRINGBOARDS OVER HIM and almost grabs the belt. Dallas catches up to Neville and grabs a waistlock. Dallas wants a german suplex, but thankfully Neville can hold on. Neville elbows Dallas down, but Dallas sets up a powerbomb. Neville pushes the ladder over in a smart move, but it can't stop Dallas powerbombing him into the second ladder wedged in the corner!
Dallas back to the centre of the ring and he grabs the ladder, he tries to sandwich Neville in the corner with it but Neville gets his boot up trapping Dallas' fingers. Dallas drops the ladder and charges again, but Neville catches him and slams him on the ladder. Neville removes the ladder from the turnbuckles and leaps on the top rope. RED ARROW ON DALLAS ON THE LADDER! “NXT” chant by the crowd. Bo Dallas rolls out of the ring as Neville grabs the ladder. “Yes” chants by the crowd as Neville gets higher. Dallas gets in the ring at the last second and decides to climb, giving Neville enough time to unhook the championship.
WINNER: ADRIAN NEVILLE
That was an awesome way to cap off NXT's first special on the WWE Network. The ladders came into play early but didn't feel overused. Being the first ladder match in NXT history they had the precarious position of trying to be memorable enough for the crowd, but not so good it can't be built upon later. But these two guys smashed it. They were given a good chunk of time and they paced the match well, building slowly on every spot without having to go backwards again. I'd rate the match 8.3/10
Neville celebrates on top of the ladder as Bo Dallas looks devastated at losing his championship. We see John Cena applaud the new NXT champion and we go off the air with Neville's hand raised high.
