THE MOUNTIE VS. TITO SANTANA
WWF WrestleMania VII (24th March 1991)
They lock up, Tito gets a headlock but Mountie sends him off the ropes. Tito Santana ducks under a leapfrog and then runs into The Mountie with a cross body. The Mountie rolls out to the floor to regroup with Jimmy Hart. There’s a meeting of the minds between Hart and Mountie before Tito sends it back into the ring for an atomic drop. The Mountie holds on to the skirt of the ring, Tito tries to pull Mountie back from the ropes but the referee makes him back off. Jimmy Hart hands The Mountie his cattle prod, and Mountie hits Tito in the midsection. Tito Santana sells after a slight delay and The Mountie throws away the evidence before getting the quick win.
WINNER: THE MOUNTIE
It was a short match to get both guys a pay day, the way WWE were doing business at the time it also made the fans want to buy tickets when Tito and The Mountie worked their nearest town on the circuit so it did the job it was supposed to. With modern eyes it’s a waste of PPV time though which gives the rating a low ceilng. [N/A] 1.5/10
