CHASE STEVENS VS. CHRIS HARRIS

   Before the match, Scott Hudson is backstage with America’s Most Wanted. James Storm is injured for the next 6 weeks at the hands of the Naturals, and Chris Harris gets revenge tonight. Harris says he proved he can beat Jeff Jarrett, so he wants his rematch when he’s done with Stevens. The Naturals have become hitmen for Jarrett in recent weeks, attacking with powder and chairs in order to help him keep the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. 

 Chase Stevens enters first, followed by Harris. 

Mike Tenay and Don West are on commentary for this match 

CHASE STEVENS VS. CHRIS HARRIS 

NWA: TNA Weekly PPV #83 (25h February 2004) 

  They lock up at the bell, Chase Stevens gets the advantage and clubs at Harris’ back. Chris Harris gets a couple of shots in but takes too long on the suplex, Chase Stevens backs Harris into the ropes and whips him across the ring. 

 Chase Stevens ducks too early, Harris hits a delayed vertical suplex for 2. Chase Stevens is sent into the turnbuckle, he gets his boot up on the charge and explodes out of the corner with a clothesline, covering for 2. Stevens chokes Harris on the mat as West mentions that this is Chase Stevens’ first singles match in TNA. Stevens suplexes Harris, barely getting a 1 count on the pin. Chase Stevens goes back to the choke on the mat, he hits Harris with a double sledge in the corner as Tenay mentions he was trained by Tracy Smothers. Chase Stevens beats down Harris in the corner and goes back to the choke. 

  Chris Harris fights his way out to the middle of the ring and reverses an irish whip. Lou Thesz press by Chris Harris, but it’s not enough to turn it around. Chase Stevens is sent off the ropes but he ducks a clothesline and knocks Harris down with a forearm shot. Chris Harris blocks a right hand and turns Stevens into a Full Nelson slam for 2. Chris Harris sends Stevens across the ring but gets caught with a leg lariat for 2, Chris Harris sends Stevens into the corner, Stevens tries to leapfrog but gets caught with a powerslam for 2. Harris calls for the Catatonic, but Chase lands on his feet. 

 Chase Stevens hits a Death Valley Driver and covers, 1, 2,2 ½! Chris Harris rolls out of the way of the moonsault and runs through Chase Stevens with a spear! 1, 2, NO! Chris Harris hits the Catatonic on the 2nd attempt and covers for 3.  

WINNER: CHRIS HARRIS 

 This was a basic match, but it got the job done. They both seemed to be finding their feet in singles matches, being more used to tag team formulas. The crowd woke up as Chris Harris gained the advantage late in the match but they would go on to have better matches in the future. [**] 4/10
