We begin seeing Earthquake beating Yokozuna last week in the Sumo match, Yokozuna got revenge on the WrestleMania Revenge show and hit a Banzai Drop on Earthquake which means Earthquake is unable to wrestle Owen Hart tonight, leaving Owen with a mystery opponent.
Introduction video before Vince McMahon welcomes us to Ohio for
Monday Night Raw. He asks Savage where Earthquake is and Savage says the San
Andreas Fault. Owen Hart makes his way out first. Doink the Clown’s music hits,
he’s Owen’s opponent. Dink is in Doink’s corner and he gives Savage a low five.
Vince McMahon and Randy Savage are on commentary for this match. Howard Finkel is our ring announcer.

Owen Hart attacks Doink as the clown is stepping through the ropes, kicks to the midsection from Owen. Doink the Clown blocks being sent into the top turnbuckle, Owen doesn’t.
Doink the Clown connects with right hands but Owen kicks out of the corner before clubbing at Doink’s neck. Owen Hart rakes at Doink the Clown’s face in the corner. Owen rakes Doink’sface across the top rope, then uses the rope to choke Doink instead. European uppercuts knock Doink back into the corner, he fights back with a right hand but Owen rakes his face again. Owen tries to send Doink into the top turnbuckle, running across the ring, but Doink gets his foot up again. Owen’s head hits the top turnbuckle. Randy Savage says the next bit best “big headlock by the Doinkster” but it’s countered with a back suplex. Owen Hart hits an elbow drop from the top rope for a nearfall. Owen Hart is caught in a waistlock, he runs to the top rope to break it but runs into lifting arm drags from Doink.
Doink the Clown slams Owen Hart, Owen is sent into the turnbuckles and he walks out into a backdrop. Doink the Clown hits a dropkick and Owen takes a break outside. Dink gets in the ring and celebrates with Doink before taunting Owen Hart. The fans chant for Bret Hart and Savage just says it isn’t happening. Back in the ring, Owen rakes at Doink’s face and backs him into the corner, Owen Hart climbs to the middle rope targeting Doink’s face and connecting with right hands. Doink the Clown reverses an irish whip and hip tosses Owen Hart. Owen goes back outside in frustration, Dink starts taunting him again so Owen gives chase, running into a clothesline from Doink. Doink the Clown slams Owen on the floor and waits for the count. Owen gets back to the apron at 7 and Doink knocks him down to the floor, Savage mentions that being enough to break the count.
Doink the Clown gets close to the ropes as Owen is on his feet at ringside. Owen grabs Doink’s ankle and wraps his knee around the ring post as we go to a commercial break. As we return Owen Hart hits a spinning heel kick in the ring and covers for 2. Owen Hart wears Doink down with a chinlock, Doink elbows his way free but runs into a belly-to-belly suplex. 1,2,2 ½! Owen Hart puts Doink in a camel clutch and pulls at Doink’s hair, teasing the referee. Doink elbows free again, he runs across the ring and avoids colliding with Owen the first time but a double clothesline sends them both to the mat. They’re back on their feet at 5, Doink blocks right hands, connecting with his own and sending Owen off the ropes into a back elbow. Owen is sent again and runs into a belly-to-belly, Doink covers for 2. Doink the Clown sends Owen into the corner and connects with the 10-punches.
Doink the Clown hits a neckbreaker as Jeff Jarrett shows up at ringside and
kidnaps Dink. Doink the Clown is distracted and gets rolled up for 3.
WINNER: OWEN HART
Finally, I got a decent match. Wrestling is in Owen’s
blood, and Doink is good for a pleasant match with a fun gimmick, the ending wasn’t
necessary and the leg work went nowhere, but they aren’t major points. [**¾] 5.75/10
