Before the match, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley are backstage watching the Brothers of Destruction. Triple H says they’re making excuses for their loss tonight and Stephanie says Shane will be making excuses after tonight too. We cut to a video package with Vince McMahon being pissed off that Shane bought WCW from him. Big Show Chokeslammed Shane O’Mac and Mr McMahon made tonight’s match official. We get the Shane McMahon fairytale segment before The Big Show makes his way out to the ring. Shane brings the storybook out with him.
Jim Ross and Paul Heyman are on commentary for
this match. Howard Finkel is our ring announcer.
SHANE McMAHON VS.
BIG SHOW (Last Man Standing)
WWF Backlash
2001 (29th April 2001)
Shane McMahon jogs around the outside of the
ring as Big Show steps back out to the floor, Shane fucks up picking up a chair
on the way round but slides it into the ring.
Shane McMahon crawls under the ring and sneaks up behind Big Show with a kendo stick. Shane lays into Big Show with the kendo stick. Shane McMahon hits Big Show in the head with the book and jumps on the barricade. Big Show catches Shane in a goozle but gets hit more with the kendo stick. Big Show catches a shot aimed at his ribs and clotheslines Shane down before pressing him overhead to place Shane in the ring. Shane has the chair, he hits Big Show across the back but gets tripped, Shane changes his target to Big Show’s head as Big Show gets to his feet. Big Show is knocked back against the ropes and Shane hits a running chair shot to the head. The referee starts counting Big Show down, he stirs at 4 as Shane grabs a medical kit from under the ring. Big Show is on his feet at 6, Shane has an ether rag, and he’s wearing a medical mask. Shane O’Mac jumps on Big Show’s back, holding the ether to his face.
Big Show slowly fades, but Mr. McMahon runs down and hits Shane across the back with the chair. Mr. McMahon takes another shot at Shane’s head, knocking him down. The referee counts them both down. Big Show is up at 7, he picks Shane up and throws him in the corner. Big Show connects with knees to the midsection and teases sending Shane across the ring before pulling him back into a sidewalk slam. Shane is on his feet at 9 so Big Show forces him into the corner for more knees to the midsection and Shane is placed on the top turnbuckle, Big Show throws Shane across the ring and lifts him into a Final Cut before telling the referee to count. Big Show lifts Shane up again at 8 and hits a Chokeslam in one fluid movement, the referee counts again and for the third time Big Show interrupts the count. Big Show lifts Shane into the torture rack but Test runs interference, hitting a Big Boot on Big Show.
Test checks on Shane McMahon and gets evicted from the ring, Big Show follows Test to the floor, sending him into the crowd and then into the steel steps. Big Show headbutts Test, Test grabs a sign from the guard rain on the entrance ramp and ducks a right hand. Big Show staggers toward the set and lifts Test, ramming him into a truss. Test is laid across the sound boxes as Shane McMahon makes his way towards the stage set, grabbing a sign on the way. Big Show takes a few shots from the sign to the back but Shane scarpers when Big Show gets a lead pipe. Big Show tries to throw Shane into the set but Shane starts climbing. Big Show tries to follow but Test cuts him off. Test hits Big Show with a cookie sheet as the fans chant bullshit. Test low blows Show to get out of the Chokeslam and hits him with the cookie sheet again.
Shane McMahon is
at the top of the set as Test connects with right hands, knocking Big Show into
position for Shane’s falling spot. The referee starts counting, Test lifts
Shane to his feet at 7, standing him against a camera as Big Show is counted
down.
WINNER: SHANE McMAHON
The fans chanting bullshit may
have jumped the gun slightly, but this match was just what you expect. Big Show
hurt Shane, Shane gets help and falls from something high to end the match. It
was fun but not spectacular. [**] 4.25/10
