CUBAN ASSASSIN VS. Z-MAN

 Cuban Assassin is in the ring as we return to the ring, The Z Man makes his way down to the ring for his WCW television debut.

Jim Ross and Jim Cornette are on commentary for this match.

  They lock up, Tom Zenk gets the early advantage, shoving Cuban Assassin and grabbing a headlock. Z-Man is sent off the ropes but knocks Assassin down with a shoulder tackle.

  Z-Man reverses a hip toss attempt into one of his own, then sends Cuban Assassin through the ropes with a pair of dropkicks. Cuban Assassin gets some offence in as he gets back in the ring, backing Z-Man into the corner with right hands, he ducks too early and gets caught with another dropkick. Cuban Assassin is arm dragged to the mat, Zenk keeps him there with the arm lock but Cuban Assassin uses his size advantage to get back to his feet. Z-Man is sent off the ropes and knocked down with a shoulder tackle. Cuban Assassin runs into another arm drag and gets to his feet in a wristlock. Another knee to the midsection cuts Z-Man off, Cuban Assassin connects with right hands but ducks early and is caught in a sunset flip for 2. Cuban Assassin runs into an armdrag but headbutts his way out and slams Z-Man to the mat. Cuban Assassin misses a headbutt from the middle rope. Z-Man chops Cuban Assassin and sends him into the turnbuckles, but runs into the back elbow. Z-Man is sent into the corner but he jumps to the middle rope, leapfrogging over Cuban Assassin. Z-Man ducks a clothesline and puts Cuban Assassin in the Sleeperhold.

  Jim Ross says this is all Z-Man told him to look out for as Cuban Assassin starts to fade. The referee checks Assassin’s arm and calls for the bell at 3.

WINNERS: “Z-MAN” TOM ZENK

This was a basic debut with a veteran that’s able to bounce around for a debuting young star. Cuban Assassin didn’t get to show much here, but that wasn’t his job tonight.  [**] 3.5/10
