TED DiBIASE VS. RAZOR
RAMON
WWF Summerslam 1993 (30th August 1993)
Ted DiBiase
jumps Razor from behind to start the match, Ramon is backed into the corner for
some chops and right hands.
Razor Ramon reverses an irish whip and
sends DiBiase over with a backdrop, followed by a Fallaway slam. DiBiase
takes a powder to the floor after a right hand knocks him down. They lock up as
he returns to the ring, Razor backs DiBiase into the corner but they switch places
thanks to a hair-pull. Razor Ramon reverses another irish whip, I think that
move only works about 40% of the time if I’m honest. Anyway, DiBiase stumbles
out of the corner into a clothesline, then another. Razor Ramon sends DiBiase
over to the floor with a third clothesline. Ted DiBiase gets back on the apron
and is slingshotted back into the ring. DiBiase begs off into the corner,
luring Razor in and sending him into the turnbuckles before choking Razor over
the top rope. Razor Ramon is snapped back into the ring and DiBiase continues
to choke him on the mat, flirting with disqualification. DiBiase pulls off a
successful irish whip and Ramon runs into a back elbow. Ted DiBiase hits the side-on
backbreaker that I always think would damage the ribs more and he covers for 2.
Razor Ramon is sent
off the ropes into a clothesline, and DiBiase snapmares him over for a sleeper hold.
Ramon sells it beautifully and DiBiase gets above him for leverage, Razor Ramon
starts to fade but keeps his arms up on the third attempt using the mythical “power
of the crowd” before fighting out of it with elbow strikes. Razor Ramon runs
into DiBiase’s knee with his midsection, DiBiase drops Ramon with the swinging
neckbreaker and hits a vertical suplex before calling for the Million Dollar
Dream. Razor Ramon cuts him off with an elbow but is chopped back into the
corner. Razor Ramon reverses an irish whip, he hits DiBiase with a clothesline
but they both go down. Ted DiBiase draws first blood as they get to their feet,
sending Razor Ramon’s head into the top turnbuckle and Ramon falls out of the ring.
Ted DiBiase unties a turnbuckle cover but
Razor Ramon is able to send DiBiase’s head into it. Razor Ramon struggles to get
Ted DiBiase up for the Razor’s Edge but he manages to hit it for the 3.
WINNER: RAZOR RAMON
This was a decent enough match, it would be Ted DiBiase’s final WWF Pay-Per-View match and he was able to put Razor Ramon over, I’m not sure the unprotected turnbuckle pad should have been needed but the crowd was into the finish and hung onto everything Razor Ramon did in the match. [**] 3.75/10
After the match we get the legendary interview with Rick
& Scott Steiner’s mum, who calls Rick Steiner by his shoot
name.
