On 12th February episode of Smackdown, CM Punk lost to Rey Mysterio, leading to a beatdown on Rey from the Straight Edge Society. This lead to a month of interference between the members of SES and Rey in the others’ matches. When Rey brought his daughter Aaliyah to Smackdown for her 9th birthday, CM Punk sang happy birthday to her. If you think that’s sweet, you have never seen it. Rey Mysterio lost a match to Luke Gallows leading to the stipulation that Rey Mysterio would join the Straight Edge Society if he lost this match.
CM Punk makes his way out first with Gallows and Serena,
he has a microphone in his hand. He claims all 72,219 people in attendance are
so high on hallucinogens that they think Rey Mysterio is a superhero. But he will be
Rey’s saviour and show us all the better, drug-free way. They play some of his
theme after the promo and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. Rey Mysterio makes
his way out, his attire is based on the movie Avatar, which I still haven’t sat
down to watch 13 years later.
Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Matt Striker are on
commentary for this match.

WINNER: REY MYSTERIO
This was a fun sprint of a match, the crowd was into it
and although there wasn’t doubt in the winner, it was fun getting there. The
Straight Edge Society were a factor in the match without becoming too much of a
distraction too, which is always a bonus. I just wish it got more time. [**¾] 0/10
