CHRIS MASTERS VS. CARLITO

Before the match, Todd Grisham is backstage with WWE Champion John Cena. Todd Grisham reminds Cena that Umaga is undefeated. John Cena says he knows Grisham wants him to talk trash and he gives a mocking interview and the crowd laps it up. He says Umaga’s never lost but he’s not backing down even though he knows he isn’t unbeatable but nothing will stop him from walking out as champion.

JR and King show the carnage from the previous match before Carlito makes his way out with Torrie Wilson and her dog, whose name escapes me right now. Last month Chris Masters put the Masterlock on Torrie Wilson whilst she was defenceless. An incel will say she asked for it. Chris Masters makes his way out as commentary tells us that their monitors aren’t working too good anymore.

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match and Lillian Garcia is our ring announcer.

CHRIS MASTERS VS. CARLITO

WWE New Year’s Revolution (7th January 2007)

The bell rings and Chris Masters dives to the corner, leaning through the ropes to force Carlito to back away.

They lock up, Master shoves Carlito into the ropes but is taken down with a spear before Carlito rains down left hands, because he’s a southpaw. Chris Masters is chopped in the corner then his head meets the top turnbuckle across the ring. Carlito connects with a shoulder thrust but Chris Masters reverses the irish whip. Carlito gets his boot up on the charge and takes Masters down with a bulldog from the middle rope getting a nearfall. Chris Masters sends Carlito off the ropes into a back body drop and hits a sledge to the back before a scoop slam. Masters kicks Carlito, but Carlito lands on his feet from the back suplex attempt. Carlito knocks Masters down with a great standing dropkick before being sent over to the apron. Carlito sends Masters’ head into the top turnbuckle and hits a double springboard moonsault on a standing Masters. Chris Masters sends Carlito into the middle turnbuckle and he calls for the Masterlock, but Carlito reverses it into an attempt of his own. Carlito can’t get his hands clasped and Masters reverses it back but Carlito scrambles to the ropes.

Chris Masters clubs at Carlito’s back and sends him overhead with a half dragon suplex. Chris Masters punches Carlito in front of Torrie and drags him around the ring by his hair as JR complains to the referee from the announce desk. Carlito is sent off the ropes into a backbreaker which gives Masters a nearfall. Masters hits another backbreaker and stretches Carlito over his knee as Torrie Wilson tries to get the crowd behind Carlito. Carlito fights his way out with a knee and gets sent into the corner, but he floats over Masters. Chris Masters turns around and flattens Carlito with a clothesline for another nearfall. Carlito fights to his feet and they exchange punches. Chris Masters wins that battle, as you’d expect and he sends Carlito into the ropes. Carlito ducks a clothesline and springs back from the middle rope with a back elbow. He knocks Masters down with a knee lift and a clothesline then hits the One Shot for a nearfall. Chris Masters reverses an irish whip, Carlito tries the wheelbarrow but Masters goes for the Masterlock.

No, Carltio slips out and tries to roll up Masters! Chris Masters sits down and grabs the tights for the win.

WINNER: CHRIS MASTERS

This match was stuck in 2nd gear. There wasn’t any heat to it and besides a few cool moves from Carlito (no pun intended) it was a nothing match. Chris Masters stealing the win suddenly made sense, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to like it. [*] 2/10
