Steve Williams stomps on Vampiro until the Head of Security and event staff escort him from the ring. Oklahoma wants to be let out of the cage, Williams shakes it in frustration as Oklahoma says he did good. The time has run down to about 3 minutes before Doug Dillinger lets Oklahoma out. Schiavone sarcastically says “Business is about to pick up” as Oklahoma gets in the ring.
Scott Hudson, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and Tony
Schiavone are on commentary for this match.
OKLAHOMA VS.
VAMPIRO
WCW Starrcade 1999 (19th December 1999)
Oklahoma nudges Vampiro with his foot before kicking him. He jumps in the air
for a DDT and I’m reluctantly impressed with that.
Oklahoma is still commentating during his
match, Oklahoma stomp (strangely similar to Ronnie Garvin’s Garvin stomp)
keeps Vampiro down. Vampiro is brought to his feet and he chops Oklahoma’s
chest. Oklahoma tries to get out then and there, but the Misfits force him back
in the ring. Oklahoma ducks a kick and boots Vampiro in the groin, another shot
from Oklahoma as Vampiro is on the mat. He connects with wild punches but Vampiro
takes him down with the uranage. The Misfits get in the ring, crowding Oklahoma,
keeping him with Vampiro and stomping him. Vampiro has Oklahoma’s hat, he sends
Oklahoma into the various members of the Misfits including a double-knee in the
corner.
Oklahoma gets to no-sell a low blow in the chaos as Vampiro hits the Nail in the Coffin sitout Tombstone for the win.
WINNER: VAMPIRO
This was naturally worse than the previous match, as Vampiro was working around Ed Ferrara’s (many) limitations. It made no sense for Vampiro to go for the pin when he should have had 5 minutes with Oklahoma, but it didn’t outstay its welcome and the stalling at the beginning made sense and was actually done well. [DUD] 0/10
