HUNTER HEARST-HELMSLEY VS. HENRY O. GODWINN

Hilbilly Jim is out first to referee this match. The rules are simple, someone is going in the hog pen. but I guess no WWF referees were keen to be around the pen. Hunter Hearst-Helmsley makes his way out, King says it’s the first time he’s ever seen a Hogpen. His guess at posh food is pheasant under glass. Henry O Godwinn walks out with two buckets of slop. He heads towards the hogpen before making it to the ring. Both Jim and Helmsley are telling Henry to put the bucket of slop down, but he walks towards his opponent. Helmsley bails to the floor, and Godwinn follows. Henry launches the slop, but Helmsley gets out of the way and the Timekeeper and a few fans in the front row get it. Helmsley attacks, as we see his boots on the screen and sends Henry Godwinn into the ring.

Jerry “The King” Lawler and Vince McMahon are on commentary for this match.

HUNTER HEARST-HELMSLEY VS. HENRY O. GODWINN

(Hogpen Match – Special Referee Hillbilly Jim)

WWF In Your House 5 (December 1995)

Since the timekeeper’s out there’s no bell but the match is on in the ring. Hunter Hearst-Helmsley backs Henry Godwinn into the corner with right hands. Godwinn fights back and sends Helmsley off the ropes with a back body drop. Helmsley bails to ringside again, he pokes Godwinn in the eye when he gets back in the ring but is sent off the ropes. Henry O. Godwinn with a shot to the midsection and a right hand before tying Helmsley in the ropes. He grabs a handful of slop and rubs it in Helmsley’s face. Henry O. Godwinn gives Helmsley time to untangle himself and is dropped with a clothesline from behind as Helmsley tries to get rid of the slop. He stomps Godwinn who gets to his feet in the corner. Helmsley pummels Godwinn until Hillbilly Jim steps in. Godwinn is sent across the ring into the turnbuckles, Hunter Hearst-Helmsley hits a swinging neckbreaker. Helmsley hits a knee drop and right hands before sending Godwinn off the ropes again, Henry Godwinn runs into the high knee and rolls to the floor.   Hunter Hearst-Helmsley follows, he tries to irish whip Godwinn but it’s reversed. Helmsley runs into a back elbow but counters the bulldog, sending Henry O. Godwinn into the steps. Henry is still the first man up, so that could have just been too close. He lifts Helmsley on his shoulder and carries him towards the Hogpen. Hunter Hearst Helmsley fights back to the floor and knocks Godwinn down with a right hand as King shouts at Helmsley to throw Godwinn in the pen. Instead Helmsley slams the Farmer’s head off the railing. Henry Godwinn blocks the second shot and knocks Helmsley down. Hunter Hearst-Helmsley reverses an irish whip and sends Godwinn into the gate of the hog pen. Hunter Hearst-Helmsley sets up the Pedigree but Godwinn backdrops him, Helmsley lands on the fence and keeps himself on the top, he precariously stands on the gate to hit an elbow drop on Henry Godwinn. Jerry Lawler starts making Bitter, Arkansas jokes, since it’s where Henry’s billed from, as Godwinn and Helmsley crawl back to the ring.

Henry Godwinn reverses an irish whip but runs into Helmsley’s boot. Helmsley sends Godwinn off the ropes but is caught in a wheelbarrow facebuster. Godwinn sends Helmsley into the corner and her does his 360 and back, Godwinn catches him with right hands before sending him into another corner. This time Hunter Hearst-Helmsley is sent over to the outside. Godwinn follows and thet brawl back to the pen. Henry Godwinn sets up the Slop Drop but Helmsley grabs the security railing. He picks up Henry Godwinn and the irish whip is reversed sending Helmsley into the hog pen gate. Henry Godwinn hits the Slop Drop on the mats near the hog pen. Helmsley’s back is bleeding, and he has to use the hog pen to get to his feet.

Henry Godwinn is positioned with a clothesline but Hunter Hearst-Helmsley backdrops him into the pen!

WINNER: HUNTER HEARST-HELMSLEY

This was a pretty good match, they didn’t tease the hog pen too much to make them look stupid, the Slop Drop was after an exhausting match where Helmsley had most of it so it didn’t really kill his finish, but I’d have preferred it not happen to be picky. [**] 3.75/10

After the match, Hunter Hearst-Helmsley is in a confrontation with Hillbilly Jim but gets pushed into the side of the hog pen. Henry Godwinn lifts Helmsley overhead and drops him in the slop, before throwing more at his back because infected cuts were cool in the 90’s.
