Before the match, we get a video package detailing this
non-wrestler rivalry. It involves Shane Douglas wanting a more conservative
style in ECW, introducing us to Bill Alfonso, a Pennsylvania State Athletic
Commission referee. He attacked Tod Gordon after a barbed wire match involving
Sandman and Shane Douglas, leading to 911 hitting him with a chokeslam during
the double dog collar match between Raven & Stevie Richards and The Pitbulls. (here) Fonzie has already bloodied up Mr Gordon, leading to Beulah’s involvement in
the match. Joey Styles introduces the match before Beulah makes her way to the
ring. That’s certainly not a conventional referee costume. There’s a sign
referencing Beulah in the front row and if you expect it to be tasteful, welcome
to ECW and the ECW arena. The crowd chant “show your tits” which Styles lets go
because it’s Home Video. After a long pause, Fonzie makes his way out with a
towel around him, ready for action. The fans hate him because he wants to bring
rules to ECW. Tod Gordon is out in an ECW sweatsuit
Beulah McGuillicuty is our referee and Joey Styles is on
commentary solo.
BILL ALFONSO VS.
TOD GORDON
ECW
November to Remember 1995 (18th November 1995)
Bill Alfonso jumps Commissioner Gordon before he can get into the ring, with “vicious” slaps sending the boss into the front row with his fans.
Bill Alfonso lays in shots in the crowd as Beulah tells him to get in the ring. Bill Alfonso shoves Beulah McGuillicuty, who retaliates with a slap. FONZIE CLOTHESLINES HER DOWN! Tod Gordon is back in the ring, he takes Alfonso down and lays in hammer strikes before being shoved away. They tussle by the ropes and exchange right hands in the corner. Gordon gets the better of it and knocks Fonzie down. He grabs a microphone and says something about the man-on-woman violence and making it man-to-man, but I barely heard it and needed Styles to explain. Alfonso knees Gordon in the midsection but is met with right hands, dancing around after each shot. Fonzie tries to beg off and offers a handshake to the Commissioner, but is taken down by a short-arm clothesline that takes Gordon off his feet too. The fans chant “we want blood!” as Gordon chokes Alfonso in the corner and he decides to take a run before stomping on Alfonso from the middle rope. Bill Alfonso swings the momentum with a low blow and dumps Gordon to the floor.
Bill Alfonso asks for a microphone and says he’ll kick Tod Gordon’s ass and tells the camera it’s not easy being a referee as he gets to ringside. Gordon hits him with a cookie sheet and the fans want him to use the timekeeper’s table. Instead, he positions the chair and sends Fonzie’s face into the seat, busting him open. Tod Gordon misses an overhand right, so Fonzie tells him “hit me” so he takes a shot. Bill Alfonso pokes Gordon in the eye, but Gordon beats him around ringside with right hands, he sends Alfonso into a chair held by a fan before continuing his journey. It looks like Gordon wanted to send Alfonso into the ring post, but he brings it back in the ring instead. Beulah has been out since the clothesline by Alfonso by the way. TOD GORDON HAS A FRYING PAN! Bill Alfonso cuts him off and takes the frying pan away but takes a comedic amount of time setting it up allowing Gordon a receipt for the low blow earlier. Tod Gordon knocks Bill Alfonso down with the frying pan and covers but there’s no referee.
Tod Gordon calls out to the back and Taz runs out to referee, he counts 2 for Tod Gordon then pulls Gordon up and knocks him down! He put Bill Alfonso on top of the pin and counts the cover.
WINNER: BILL ALFONSO
This is what you would expect from 2 non-wrestlers and a
non-referee in the match. Beulah was out for a ridiculous amount of time with
no one checking on her and it was extended by fumbling about from both competitors,
but it did it’s job. Tod Gordon got to protect his brand before being screwed
out of the win in the match. The Bill Alfonso and Taz alliance would run roughshot
on the company for the next year and change, so it set something up. [DUD] 0/10
The fans chant for Sabu and Taz says he’s not coming back out.
He says he didn’t get a phone call or a letter when he was injured but everyone’s
concerned for Terry Funk, Sabu, and Tommy Dreamer. He goes in on Paul Heyman for
not paying him whilst he’s injured and says Fonzie is the one that cares about
Taz and his family. He says if it’s Fuck Taz then it’s Fuck You.
