I couldn’t find much on the relationship between the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association and the NWA, but the company itself only lasted from 1989-1992. It seems Jim Crockett Promotions took the LPWA Champion on as their WCW Women’s Champion during a short time in the early 1990’s. They had television and home video distribution but seem to be a blip in the history of wrestling. As for the wrestlers, Susan Sexton won the championship back in January, she’s an Australian wrestler who had a part in the movie American Angels - Baptism of Blood. Bambi was a 4-year veteran at this point, previously working in the AWA with Madusa.
Before the match, Tony Schiavone gets an interview with Stan Hansen. Hansen says you have to be motivated, which means you have to be hungry;
he knows the way to get money around here is to go after the top guy, which is
Sting. He lays out a challenge to the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Schiavone
tells Hansen that Lex Luger is the #1 contender, whereas Hansen is 6th
in the Top 10 Rankings. Stan Hansen is furious and says he’s also coming for
Luger, #5 and #4, #3 and Ric Flair are safe though.
Jim Ross and Bob Caudle are on commentary for this
match.

Championship)
JCP Clash of the Champions XII: Mountain Madness/Fall Brawl
(5th September 1990)
Jim Ross asks Bambi’s last name and Caudle
calls her a dear… OK. I understand the reference but it's weird hearing Caudle
say it in 2022. They shake hands before the match. Susan Sexton grabs a
headlock as JR goes over the TBS weekend wrestling schedule.
Bambi sends Sexton off the ropes, she goes prone and sends her down with a hip toss. Bambi knocks Sexton down again with a shoulder tackle, Susan Sexton catches her in a drop toehold, holding it on the mat with her feet, before using her arms to get more torque on the knees instead. Sexton moves into a headlock on the mat. Bambi counters with a headscissors, Sexton rolls through and escapes, going back to Bambi’s legs. Sexton drops an elbow as she pulls on Bambi’s ankles but leaves her head free for Bambi to get a chinlock, forcing a break from Sexton. They transition into a headlock and get to their feet, Bambi with an arm wringer, but Sexton rolls through into one of her own, she wrenches again and takes Bambi down with a wristlock takeover. Bambi counters a top wristlock with a headscissors, but Sexton kicks out. They get back to their feet, cautious to go back on the offensive, Susan Sexton sends Bambi off the ropes and runs through her, following with a bodyslam. Sexton covers but Bambi immediately kicks out. Bambi takes Susan down with a headlock, and commentary is talking about women’s wrestling changing, with there being fewer active female wrestlers over the previous years.# Sexton works back to her feet, but Bambi gets a schoolgirl for 2. Bambi is able to push Sexton back in a knuckle lock, but the champion breaks it and put Bambi in an arm wringer. Bambi only takes one club to the arm before sending Susan Sexton into the corner for a back elbow. Sexton is sent across the ring, but she comes back from the second turnbuckle with a forearm smash.
Susan Sexton sends Bambi off the ropes into a backdrop and slams her, then hits a jumping elbow drop for a nearfall. Susan Sexton tries the backdrop again but ducks early, Bambi rolls her up with an inside cradle, but Sexton rolls through at 2 and gets the win.
WINNER: SUSAN SEXTON (STILL LPWA Champion)
This match existed, it had no real flow and was basic, they didn’t mess anything up but not much of what they did looked particularly crisp. Skippable match and hopefully not the best of these two. [*] 1/10
