DARK CARNIVAL VS. FILTHY ANIMALS

The Dark Carnival consists of Vampiro and the two members of the Insane Clown Posse rap group. Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman represent the Filthy Animals.

The opening video goes over Sting deciding to trust a “changed man” in Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Lex Luger doesn’t think Sting should trust him though and Sting is torn. If history has shown anything, Sting will make the wrong choice in the end. Tony Schiavone is the first man we hear live, he gets a long intro as the pyro goes off. He welcomes us with Mike Tenay and Bobby Heenan, Heenan tells Sting not to trust Lex Luger or Hogan Schiavone mentions the US title match before plugging the WCW Hotline. We see a video showing ICP’s entry into WCW, the Filthy Animals want to send them back to the rap studio. Vampiro says this goes back to Mexico when he was a musician.

Vampiro and Insane Clown Posse enter first Mike Tenay reminds the fans that wesaw it the previous month also, before the Filthy Animals make their way down. Also ICP are doing that thing where they enjoy being the “Most despised band in the world.”

Tony Schiavone, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and Mike Tenay are on commentary for this match.

THE DARK CARNIVAL VS. THE FILTHY ANIMALS

WCW Fall Brawl 1999 (12th September 1999)

Vampiro shoves Rey before we can decide who’s starting. The Carnival stall as the fans chant for Eddie Guerrero. Billy Kidman starts with Shaggy 2 Dope, Shaggy kicks Kidman in the midsection.   Shaggy 2 Dope clubs at Kidman, but takes some time to gloat, too. Kidman is sent into Vampiro’s boot, but 2 Dope ducks 2 Soon and gets kicked. Billy Kidman stomps the clown and sends him into the turnbuckles. Shaggy moves out of the way of a Stinger splash in the corner and clotheslines Kidman down. This begins a rough sequence where Kidman flips out of a back suplex, but doesn’t land on his feet. He knocks Shaggy 2 Dope down with a forearm and they go into a wheelbarrow as Rey Mysterio Jr. hits a leg drop to Shaggy. Eddie Guerrero connects with a Tope con Hilo from the apron, getting the tag. He taunts Violent Jay on the apron. Shaggy 2 Dope is sent off the ropes, Eddie was meant to hit a calf kick but it was more of a butt smash before tagging Rey Mysterio Jr. in. Eddie snapmares Shaggy down and Rey jumps to the top rope from the apron, falling with a splash. Violent Jay gets the tag, he pushes Rey into the corner and alley-oops him out, a catapult sends Rey into the Carnival’s corner. Eddie and Kidman have the referee distracted in one of those moments we all used to get annoyed at but now consider part of the match.

Vampiro enters the match without a tag and kicks Rey in the midsection. Rey Mysterio is sent off the ropes but slams Vampiro’s head into the mat, he dropkicks Vampiro back into the corner and hits the bronco buster as Eddie holds Vampiro’s arms. Billy Kidman gets the tag, as does Violent Jay. Violent Jay wants to lock up but is kicked in the midsection. Billy Kidman clubs away at Violent Jay, causing him to cower behind the referee. Violent Jay comes back with a chop and sends Kidman off the ropes into a DDT before tagging Vampiro back in. Vampiro hits a powerbomb on Billy Kidman! That’s as rare as rocking horse shit. He covers but Eddie breaks it up with a dropkick. Billy Kidman fights back to his feet but he’s sent off the ropes, Vampiro leapfrogs him and then knocks Kidman down with a shoulder block. Vampiro goes to the top rope and hits a spinning kick, but Rey breaks up the pin. Insane Clown Posse double-team Rey in the corner as the referee is dragged away by Vampiro, he knocks Kidman down in the corner and chops him against the ropes.

Shaggy 2 Dope tags back in and hits a powerslam, Eddie breaks up the pin. Violent Jay gets the tag but is sent into the corner, Billy Kidman crawls for the tag and brings in Rey, Violent Jay spins as he gets to his feet, Rey hits a springboard senton and an Asai moonsault in the ring but Vampiro breaks up the pin. Rey Mysterio is sent into the ropes but the feint kick brings him back in. Vampiro kicks Rey from the apron and Violent Jay clotheslines him over to the floor. Shaggy 2 Dope stomps on Rey and Vampiro helps send Rey Mysterio Jr into the guardrail. Mysterio seems to have legitimately hurt his knee so Vampiro and Shaggy carry him into the ring. Vampiro puts Rey in a chinlock as Kidman and Eddie are kept in their corner. Vampiro brings Rey over to the Animals’ corner in an arm wringer, attacking Eddie which brings in Kidman. Vampiro puts Rey in a front facelock but is sent into the corner, Rey Mysterio tags out. Eddie wastes no time, firing back elbows at Vampiro in the corner, he chops Vampiro, and it sounds brutal. Vamps is sent off the ropes into a clothesline.

Rey can’t even be seen on the apron as Vampiro’s head meets the top turnbuckle. Eddie chops him but is dropped with a spinning kick from Vampiro. Violent Jay tags in, he hits a sidewalk slam and a scoop slam on Eddie before Shaggy 2 Dope grazes him with a top rope leg drop. Kidman still breaks up the cover to save facepaint for the Juggalos. Vampiro tags back in, Eddie reverses an irish whip and hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Vampiro. Shaggy 2 Dope runs into a clothesline, Violent Jay is sent over with a hip toss and that allows Vampiro to knock Guerrero down with a clothesline from behind. Vampiro kicks Kidman down from the apron, sending Violent Jay to keep him occupied. He hits a rough-looking assisted Stunner with Shaggy 2 Dope, the clown goes up to the top rope again but Kidman thankfully cuts him off, crotching him on the top turnbuckle and shoving him to the floor. Vampiro meets Kidman with right hands, climbing to the top rope and hitting a gutwrench superplex. Vampiro covers but gets up after 1 as he sees Eddie on the top rope.

Vampiro can see Eddie but can’t stop the missile dropkick, Billy Kidman hits a close Shooting Star Press giving the Filthy Animals the win.

WINNER: FILTHY ANIMALS

This match was incredibly disjointed, the Insane Clown Posse didn’t look like they should be close to a wrestling ring, the leg drop was terrible, as was the lifted stunner with Vampiro, which wasn’t Vampiro’s fault at all. Not to mention the awkward sequence with Kidman early in the match. I don’t know how much ICP was paid for these shows but it was too much from this match. If you can honestly put up with it, it might be worth a look for ICP fans, but probably not.[DUD] 0/10
