TED DIBIASE SR. VS. JIMMY SNUKA

  Earlier in the night, Ted DiBiase  and Virgil are backstage with “Mean” Gene Okerlund. DiBiase calls Snuka a savage and berates him for being from the Isle of Fiji, comparing their lifestyles as Virgil counts the money. Before the match Queen Sherri is shown making a potion over the Cauldron of Madness backstage with Randy Savage and Zeus. Ted DiBiase gets the jobber entrance and reminds everyone that he’s the one that ended Jake Roberts’ career before Jimmy Snuka jogs to the ring.

TED DIBIASE VS. JIMMY SNUKA

WWF SummerSlam 1989 (28^th August 1989)

  Ted DiBiase tries to blindside Snuka, but Jimmy Snuka  moves out of the way and connects with rights and a headbutt, sending DiBiase to the floor.

  Virgil bails to the floor before getting dragged into it. Moments later he’s back on the apron but turns his attention to the crowd and is caught by Snuka. DiBiase tries another sneak attack but knocks Virgil back to the floor before eating some right hands from Snuka. Snuka chops DiBiase and an atomic drop sends he Million Dollar Man to the floor for a frustrated breather. Ted DiBiase takes his time before locking up with Snuka back in the ring. He holds on as Snuka tries to send him off the ropes the first time, but he gets sent across the ring. Jimmy Snuka leapfrogs DiBiase, he tries to leapfrog on the way back but lands on DiBiase’s head. Snuka hits DiBiase in the throat before sending his head into the top turnbuckle. Ted DiBiase tries to escape, but Snuka follows him and DiBiase’s head gets familiar with another turnbuckle. Ted DiBiase cuts Snuka off with a kick to the gut, he clubs at Snuka trying to keep him on the mat. Ted DiBiase connects with right hands in the corner, he chops Snuka but the irish whip is reversed sending DiBiase into the corner. Ted DiBiase staggers out into a backdrop. DiBiase begs off and knocks Snuka back with a shot to the midsection.

  Ted DiBiase goes back to the headlock but he’s sent across the ring. Jimmy Snuka knocks him down with a shoulder tackle, DiBiase goes prone as Snuka keeps running and a Hot Shot stops any momentum. Ted DiBiase lays into Snuka in the corner with right hands and suplexes him for 2. DiBiase drives his knee into Snuka’s back and drops Snuka’s back across his knee. Ted DiBiase covers but Snuka immediately kicks out. Jimmy Snuka is slammed again and DiBiase goes to the top rope, Snuka rolls out of the way of the trust fall and fights back to his feet. He headbutts DiBiase and a jumping headbutt knocks him down. DiBiase tries to beg off again but Snuka doesn’t let up. He slams DiBiase and hits a diving headbutt from the middle rope. Jesse Ventura says he should cover but Snuka goes to the top rope. Virgil distracts Snuka from the apron. Jimmy Snuka jumps down to the floor and chases Virgil, they exchange right hands as Ted DiBiase goes out to the apron.

  Ted DiBiase hits Jimmy Snuka with an ax handle and sends him into the ring post before getting back in the ring to beat the 10-count.

WINNER: TED DIBIASE (Countout)

This was an OK match, but they seemed restricted and didn’t get too much time. They worked well besides the leapfrog spot but the finish dragged it down more. [*¾] 3/10

Jimmy Snuka attacks DiBiase and Virgil from behind with a flying double clothesline. DiBiase is knocked out of the ring as Snuka takes it to Virgil, who is sent off the ropes into a chop. Jimmy Snuka hits a backbreaker on Virgil and hits the Superfly Splash.
