X-PAC VS. GOLDUST

Before the match the four members of the nWo are backstage, Kevin Nash says he wants to talk about their announcement, and reminds Booker T and X-Pac they have King of the Ring qualifying matches tonight. Goldust appears dressed like Jonathan Coachman and tries to interview Nash about the announcement, asking if Goldust will be a part of the nWo, Booker T says he gets a spot in the group if he beats X-Pac tonight.

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match, X-Pac comes out with the NWO video effects and Kane’s mask, which he still has over a month on from stealing it. Goldust is out as JR plugs next week's show in Atlanta, GA.

X-PAC VS. GOLDUST

(King of the Ring qualifier)

WWE Raw (3rd June 2002)

X-Pac avoids Goldust for a while as Goldust asks for a Too Sweet. X-Pac obliges and gets in a cheap shotto begin the match.

X-Pac connects with more right hands and a kick can’t soften Goldust up as he reverses an irish whip and hits an inverted atomic drop. Goldust with stomps before lifting X-Pac and dropping him across the top rope, he rakes the back and lays in another boot. X-Pac tries to fight back but Goldust goes to the eyes and sends X-Pac across the ring into a jumping ass attack for a 2 count. X-Pac is sent off the ropes, he ducks a clothesline and knocks Goldust down with a spinning back kick for 2. He slams Goldust and hits a running leg drop before ripping off the fake goatee. King is talking about Austin being benched if he loses tonight’s main event, annoyin JR in the process. X-Pac chops Goldust in the corner and connects with kicks but Goldust avoids the Bronco Buster, he connects with mounted punches in the corner, putting a point of it with an elbow to the top of the head. Goldust hits the Bronco Buster on X-Pac and we get the obvious homophobic joke.

Goldust goes for it again but X-Pac gets his boot up, he hits the X-Factor and covers Goldust for the win.

WINNER: X-PAC (Qualified for 2002 King of the Ring tournament)

This was a basic match, which is all it needed to be. They looked pretty good and no one got hurt by the end of it, [*¾ ] 2/10
