Jerry “The King” Lawler, Matt Striker, and Michael Cole are on commentary for this match.
R-Truth makes his way out to the ring with the microphone,
his entrance was over as fuck during this time period. Ted DiBiase makes his
way out and he has, in Michael Cole’s words “the original Virgil” although that
isn’t 100% accurate. Striker says he took the money from his trust fund and is
paying Virgil triple what his father did back in the day. At least there was a
reason he copied his dad’s gimmick completely, the trust fund was available
after his WrestleMania 26 match the previous match.
TED DIBIASE Jr. VS.
R-TRUTH
WWE Over the Limit 2010 (23rd May 2010)
They lock up and trade arm wringers, R-Truth sends DiBiase down
to one knee but is forced into the corner, leading to a break. R-Truth moves
out of the way of the right hand, DiBiase cowers through the ropes, stopping
the match for a moment. Ted DiBiase Jr puts a waistlock on R-Truth, moves to a
headlock, he goes back to the arm wringer but R-Truth counters and sends
DiBiase down to the mat. DiBiase gets to his feet and slaps R-Truth but it
wakes him up, he hammers at DiBiase, backing him into the corner. DiBiase
reverses the irish whip but R-Truth floats over, drops into a splits to duck a
clothesline and knocks DiBiase down with a heel kick. R-Truth sends him to the
floor with a clothesline. Virgil goes to check on him, R-Truth’s attention is
taken away from his opponent, giving DiBiase a chance to get o his feet. He
turns R-Truth around but gets caught with right hands, R-Truth sends DiBiase’s
head into the apron and brings it back into the ring. Virgil makes his way up
to the apron, distracting R-Truth again. Ted DiBiase Jr. hits a neckbreaker and
follows with terrible mounted punches before dumping R-Truth through the ropes.
R-Truth is sent into the barrier before DiBiase
brings him back into the ring. R-Truth fires up with right hands but runs into
a flapjack for a nearfall. DiBiase sends R-Truth’s head into the turnbuckle and
kicks him in the corner, then chokes R-Truth with his boot. R-Truth fights out
of the corner with more right hands, he runs to the ropes and DiBiase follows
him, R-Truth turns around into a clothesline! That’s a great spot, I always
wondered why no one did it before, it only gets DiBiase a nearfall though. Ted
DiBiase goes to the chinlock, learning from his time with Randy Orton in
Legacy. R-Truth gets to his feet and escapes using elbows but DiBiase hits a
back suplex for another nearfall. R-Truth counters a diving ax handle with a
punch to the midsection and he places DiBiase on the top rope. Ted DiBiase Jr
fights off the superplex and sends R-Truth to the mat with right hands, but
R-Truth hits the ropes to knock him off balance. R-Truth sends DiBiase down
with clotheslines and a hip toss, he hits the flatliner but only gets 2.
Ted DiBiase counters a kick into a rough-looking electric chair drop, he covers but it’s still 2. R-Truth blocks a right hand as they get to their feet and connects with one of his own, he ducks a DiBiase clothesline and trips him, and tries to put on a boston crab but DiBiase grabs the bottom rope. R-Truth hits a suplex into a stunner and covers but Ted DiBiase kicks out at 2. R-Truth hits the Lie Detector (a jumping forearm) for the win.
WINNER: R-TRUTH
This wasn’t a great match, Ted DiBiase Jr had some awkward
moments and you could see him talking through the match, the clothesline was
the only redeeming factor of this match, the electric chair drop hurt my spine
just to see. [*] 2/10
